How quickly did you fall pregnant after removal of the mirena coil? Concerned it will impact on fertility...

Hi, I had mine removed years ago but wasn't TTC. The mirena shouldn't cause a delay in fertility, it may take a month or so for your body's cycles to return to a regular pattern it really depends on the individual, however once removed the drop in progesterone from the removal an stimulate an ovulation, when I remove a ladies coil (Im a nurse) I tell them to assume they are fertile by the time they get home. If a lady has had unprotected sex in the seven days before the coil is removed then that can also result in a pregnancy although it's only a small chance I wouldn't remove one in this case if the woman was not wanting a pregnancy

No problem for me. I had mine removed at the beginning of November 2015. I had to wait a month to ttc as I had to have some vaccinations but was pregnant on my second cycle of trying. Currently 36 weeks pregnant with my second.

I had my coil out and a BFP within 5 weeks Shock.
Try not to worry! I thought it would take ages and was very, very shocked!

Mooey89 · 14/10/2018 22:37

I’m in the same boat OP!
Had my coil out on 2nd Oct, not even had a period yet, small bit of spotting!
Really worried that my cycles are fucked as I didn’t have a period in the 5 years of the coil, so really worried it will take ages for BFP!

Darkstar4855 · 14/10/2018 23:54

Took me eight months after mine came out but I was 37 at the time so the mirena may well have had nothing to do with it! I did find my periods were much lighter and my cycle longer for the first four or five months but gradually got back to normal.

I had my coil out in July and not pregnant yet. After having it out I had two ovulations with no period, last ovulation was followed by a very light period so it's definitely taking my lining some time to get back to normal.

5 years and a round of IVF after I had my mirena out but I'd had no previous pregnancies and turns out my body perhaps provides it's own contraception, although we were unexplained so chances are if I hadn't of had the mirena and hadn't of wanted to get pregnant I bloody would of done. Hope you are far far luckier than me x

Hi. I had my coil removed in June. I'm still ttc now 😔 periods went back to normal straight away, do has ovulation. We just haven't been lucky enough to fall pregnant yet x

I have had different conception times following mirena removal. DC1 was conceived 1 full cycle following removal. DC2 took 7 full cycles following removal (that was really tough each month, Altho I know it’s not long in reality) I’m currently pregnant with DC3 and I fell pregnant 1 week post removal... needless to say that was a bit of a shock. I didn’t have a period or any bleed post removal, nothing came so I took a test and it was positive.
Everyone is different - just as every conception is different. Good All those still trying - it will happen Flowers

Soph4321 · 16/10/2018 20:10

@untiltheveryend oh wow, that's a mixture of conception times!

rosydreams · 17/10/2018 12:02

@Her0utdoors
So you got pregnant pretty much immediately?! Congratulations :)

Her0utdoors · 19/10/2018 10:35

Yes, it seems I did mooney, I was 35, no bleeds, no nothing. Ds on the other hand took 12 months to conceive, I didn't have a Mirena between pregnancies. Fingers crossed for you all.

Her0utdoors · 19/10/2018 10:36

Oh and no periods for 9 years before that, 2 Mirena back to back.
