Hi all. Looking for some expert advice and you ladies seem to know pregnancy tests very well! If your first day of your last period was 13th September, when you you be expecting to see a BFP if there is one? And using a cheap strip?

The very cheep strip you get in bundles of amazon etc?

For me they didn't show a positive until about 10 days after a more sensitive shop bought test, so maybe a week after my period was due. Assuming a 28 day cycle, you would be due on tomorrow so in about a week.

If you are getting symptoms and don't want to wait (I couldn't) you could buy a more sensitive test which would have a good chance of showing positive from tomorrow. Wouldn't have to be an expensive on, even the few pound one should be accurate once your period is due.

Of course if your periods are erratic then all bets are off, do you know when you would be due on?

Thanks for replying...did a test today which was negative...was a 3 for a pound one from pound shop. Periods erratic usually. So as not to drip feed it's actually my dd I'm asking for and I was quite confident that the negative test was correct...now I'm not. Sorry if this is an insensitive place for this.

£ shop tests were showing me as negative even a week after getting positives from CB.

Sorry it's not the answer you were hoping for, I hope your DD's ok.

As her cycle is erratic you would be better timing from when she last had unprotected sex. Most tests can detect pregnancy 2 weeks after ovulation. As sperm can survive from 1 weekbefore, a negative will be reliable 3 weeks after sex.

If you're using the cheep sticks maybe test again a week after this to make sure, but if finances allow I would buy a different test. The sticks are renowned for been unreliable and 3 weeks of uncertainty is more then enough.

You get some of those early test kits from clear blue that you can try.

Test on first morning urine though as it's most concentrated of HcG (the hormone the kits pick up).

Thanks all. Got a positive test this afternoon with a first response. Dd is 17 so it's not the best news tbh but do you know what, I'm not actually that upset. She's a great kid and will be a great mum.
