Late period, negative test, having some symptoms

New here, hoping someone can advise. I've been on the pill for years (15) and have always had a 28 day cycle, period was always spot on 4-5 days after stopping pill for a week, I've never been late before. Stress has never affected my cycle, not even in the most stressful situations of my life when my mum unexpectedly passed two years ago, which happened before my undergrad dissertation deadline, or when my dad passed at the end of august there now, which happened a week before my postgrad dissertation deadline and while in the middle of preparing for MoD Police fitness and medical check. Period was still spot on both times, in the latter case it was on just the week after.

I was supposed to come on last weekend again but all week I've just had some spotting, very minor, but no actual period. For weeks now I've been feeling drained by the time I get home from work or at the end of my day if I was off, to the point where I've now deferred my MoD application as there was no way I was going to be ready in time for next month. I've also been experiencing lower back pains and the past week I've been going to the bathroom about three times more often than normal, I've been slightly nauseous every day throughout and feeling sick around dinnertime for most of this week.

I've taken two Clear Blue Digi tests, one on Thursday evening after work and one first thing this morning but both came back negative. Then this afternoon when wiping it did look like there was a little bit of period blood but nothing on the pad and it's now gone down to spotting again. Is it too soon to be testing, are Clear Blue Digi's not as reliable as other tests or could it just be stress after all?

It could that you just aren't having a withdrawal bleed - you are still on the pill, yes?

I had the last of the strip on Thursday Sept 27, and started back Wednesday there Oct 3. I took it for 3 days but stopped now to see if it would come on after all. Not sure if I should just keep taking it and see how the next period goes or stop a while longer to see if it'll come on then. The thing is my period has never been late or skipped altogether. The pill is the only birth control we use, so pregnancy is always a possibility

Stopping and starting will be your likely cause...

You are always regular because you're on the pill - it 'controls' your 'cycle'. The only reason you take a break is to fool you (but not your body) into thinking you still cycle.

Take a test weekly to rule out pregnancy, but it doesn't really sound like this is the cause to me as you have recently been taking hormones that can mimic pregnancy and co troll your cycle...

Thanks, I think I'll do that yea. I just wasn't sure as my period was supposed to come on last Sunday during my stop week and it didn't. Only started again on Wednesday as that's what I'd normally do
