Too Much Information sex/TTC question

Been TTC for a while so probably overly-anxious here :-/

Sorry for TMI, but if OH pulls out after just about 5-10 seconds after finishing, and gloopy semen seems to all get pulled out at the same time like an elastic band attached to the end of his penis (seriously! and I couldn't feel anything in there in the half hour afterwards like you usually can), was it a wasted attempt? Or am I being ridiculous and of course plenty of sperm stayed in there?

Sorry if this thread sounds like a teenager asking "my boyfriend said you cant get pregnant if you have sex standing up" –I know I sound stupid, but really I think I'm just desperate because we've been trying so long and I'm quite sure I ovulated yesterday and now this.

I imagine both are possibilities (ie none in there or plenty in there) and the only way you'll know is to wait and see but to be honest with you, if it was me, as you said a lot of it visibilly came out, then I would probably consider that not a 'wasted attempt' but an unprobable attempt.

But you never know! And there are something like 250m sperm realised and you only need 1 of those little swimmers to fertilise the egg, so even if only a little bit is left in there that could still be enough to do the trick.

Don't feel sad. Could you give it another go later (exhausting, I know!)?, and did you DD in the days leading up to O day?

namechange100001 · 28/09/2018 14:52

Yeah we're going to try again straight after he gets home from work. But when you're struggling, you always imagine the worst, like what if I ovulated yesterday morning, then we had that bad attempt last night, and by this evening even it could (in my mind likely will) be too late! Argh it's so stupid.

What is DD? Sorry, I don't know all the acronyms.

I googled it, did you mean BD? The previous time was 2 days prior on Tuesday night. We've been trying every other day. Which apparently is sufficient, but if last night was a failure then it would mean a three day gap, directly over the O day.

I actually meant DTD (do the dance) but yeah, means the same thing :)

I know this is probably the most frustratingly obvious thing to say but just try to stay positive and be proactive, stressing about it won't help matters. (I do appreciate how annoying it is to be told that!!!)

I’m led to believe....that the stuff that leaks out aka the gloopy stuff, isn’t actually the stuff that gets you pregnant, it’s just the stuff that encases the spermies. The actually babymaking stuff gets shot up straight away and is already well on its way up by the time he pulls out. If the spermies fell out then no one would ever get pregnant I guess!

So yeah don’t worry about it leaking out, or going to the loo afterwards etc

Darkstar4855 · 28/09/2018 21:10

It shouldn’t make any difference, plenty of sperm will reach the cervix and most of what comes out is the fluid around them rather than the actual sperm. Doing it every other day is plenty too.

FWIW I’m not sure my OH has ever stayed “in” for more than 5-10 seconds after and I’m now 30 weeks pregnant!
