i know it will be different for every woman but how long did it take you to concieve after stopping contraception. i have only just stopped taking pill. whats chances of being pregnent by christmas. number 1 baby was a fantastic surprise so have never had to do this before

I was told that if you come off the pill to try for a baby, it's best to have a 'natural' bleed (period) before concieving. I guess it's so you get an accurate date or something. Could be wrong though but it sounds like a good idea.

i seond the natural bleed thing, although its not harmful to conceive before, its just for ease of dating. it tok me 4months to conceive ds2 after pill, and 3 months to onceive ds1 after pill. i am now ttc after having a mirena out, on 4th cycle now.

i am still breastfeeding(he's nine months now so thinking about stopping in near future) have heard this can delay ovulation. haven't had any bleed since he was born. do you think this will affect conception?

ang772, I'm also still BFing my 17 months old and only got period and ovulation back after just over 1 year, but still not pregnant .

Just out of curiosity, why are you stopping BFing? Just to get pregnant?

I got pregnant while bf dd when she was 9 months. Carried on until she was 14 months and am due in 6 weeks. I hadn't had an af, but could tell I had ovulated. You don't nec. get af, even though you have ovulated though.

archiesmummy: I don't plan to stop bfing completely yet, love having that time together. My son refuses to take juice cup or expressed milk from bottle so I want to try and cut out morning or lunch feeds and introduce the cup, will also make my life alittle easier as well. I amn't stopping bfing to concieve if thats what you thought. my son is the priority. Am not in any rush to have number two, will happen if/when it happens.

Both times before conceiving I was on Microgynon. It took 3 months to conceive first baby and 2 months to conceive second.

Good for you ang772. I was desperate to get pregnant (have chilled a bit now LOL) and did almost consider stopping BFing, but as I said earlier I got AF back after just over 1 year and ovulation shortly after that again...

I am too trying for #2 have dd 1yo she took 18months of ttc,so we been ttc since dd born with no luck as of yet!
good luck hoping you dont loose the laid back approach you have on ttc

I'm still breastfeeding 6mth old dd and haven't had a period yet but hoping to conceive no.2... she has just started to sleep through the night so hope that might get me ovulating again?
