Ovulation

Hi, I wondered if I could get some help. I’m kind of new to all this.

My husband and I have been ttc for two cycles now, this is our third. I have worked out using opk that I had an LH surge on Saturday morning and tried again on Saturday night and still had the surge. When I tested on Friday night there was no surge. So I assume the surge started at some point during the early hours of Saturday morning and unsure of when it ended. Does this mean I ovulated on Sunday?

I have a 28 day cycle and got the positive OPK result on CD16. Is this normal? From what I’ve read it should be CD14 that you should ovulate?

Hoping one of you lovely people can clear this up from me. I’m a bit of a worrier when it comes to things like this.

Ovulation can vary hugely from woman to women so it’s definitely not necessarily day 14. My cycles are long since coming off the pill and I ovulated on day 26 this time.
I have also recently found out that you get the positive opk result before and during ovulation. So basically when you first get a positive it means you will ovulate in the next 24-36 hours. As soon as you no longer get a positive it means you’ve finished ovulating.
I hope that’s helpful!

@mrsdash sorry but that’s not correct? The OPK is just showing you when your surge starts. You will ovulate 12-48 hours after the positive OPK. Doesn’t mean when it’s no longer positive that ovulation has happened, just means the surge has. OPK’s don’t confirm ovulation just the LH surge x

@sunshine1987 ah well I may have been given the wrong info! That’s just what I was told and it seemed to make sense for me since I always get positive opk results for two days, which bbt chart suggests is day before and day of ovulation. But that theory may be totally wrong!

Thank you for your replies.

So basically I will have ovulated 12-48 hours after my LH surge starts or ends?
