Trying to get pregnant been on depo 6 years

Hi, I was on depo for 6 years and then me and the hubby decided we want a baby. So had my last shot last August my periods finally returned May this year lasted 5 days, then had spotting mid June. Had bleeding end of June lasted 5 days then had a week break then came on again for another 5 days, 2 weeks later on again lasted 5 days then 2 week break back on for 5. 19days later back on for 5. (Sorry for too much info) Im so puzzled what is going on it’s getting me down. Cause my periods are all over I can’t get a accurate ovulation but we keep trying all the time, has anyone else experienced this. If so how long was your periods to ovulation / how long did it take to conceive ? Ty

Hello! Some people find it very easy to get pregnant after depo so I don’t want to dishearten you but my experience wasn’t great, it took about 8 months for my periods to return, then they came every two weeks for about 6 months, then they regulated to a vaguely normal monthly cycle but it took me 2 years to conceive altogether (from coming off the depo). I may have just been unlucky, or I may have infertility issues which are particular to me and may not affect you. But I wanted to be honest and share with you.

Regardless of whether your periods have stabilised you should still go to the GP and report failure to conceive after a year (or 6 months if you are over 35) so they can start the ball rolling for infertility investigations, as these take a while to happen. Good luck!

Hi thank you for getting back to me. Quite glad I’m not only one which was having 2 weeks apart my next depo was due nov time so I’m using that as my end date for depo so I’m only 10 months off it. I’ve been on depo before and came off after 3 years and think it was around a year then. So fingers crossed. It’s just that last time my blob returned normal 28 days after 2 months so was bit unsure this time around x
