Hi I was wondering if anyone could shed any light. Me and my husband decided to start trying for a baby last month. I have been off the pill for 18 months. I used ovulation kits at the time I should have been ovulating and I had a faint line so I know I ovulated. My period is now a full 2 weeks late. My average cycle is 32days. I have mild lower abdomen and back cramps, just like period cramps but come and go. I have had no spotting whatsoever. I feel very tried and some days yucky! I have took about 10+ hpts and all negative. I have a GP appointment on 1st October. I have never missed a period and feel this is such a coincidence on the first month we try. Has anyone heard of this before and still been pregnant? My head is doing overtime. Tia x

Hi Tia, I’m in a similar boat...usually pretty regular (30-32 days) but am 7 days late so far.
Had a miscarriage in June after 9 months of trying.
Had a few symptoms that I am familiar with, having been pregnant with my now 3yr old and the little one we lost, but had a negative test on Friday 😩
Only time I’ve been this late before and not been preggers was in Jan after the flu and I guess the virus knocked my ovulation around. I was a full 2 weeks late then.
I had a 2 day cold at the end of August but can’t imagine that has affected it this time.
I’m too scared to take another test because not knowing is weirdly giving me hope! Just want period to either arrive or finally pluck courage up to test again.
Hopefully, the Dr might do a blood test for you. It’s such a rollercoaster, isn’t it xxxxx Good luck xxxx

A faint line is NOT a positive opk. So it seems like you probably didn't detect a surge? Any change in routine can change your cycle (my regular 31 day cycle became irregular for the whole two and a half years we were ttc.

Late ovulation or no ovulation will cause a delayed period.

Thanks for you response. I wasn’t aware a faint line wasn’t a positive so thanks for that. I just find it really strange that the first month we try this happens. I don’t really get bad cramp on my period but I have cramp and lower back pain everyday just now. It’s just so confusing.

Louh I know it’s such a disappointment constantly getting the negatives. I feel I do still have a bit of hope and hoping my GP will do a blood test. It’s just too much of a coincidence! I should say I am overweight and I read online that fatty tissue can absorb hormones and give a false negative and there is not enough going through your body but I don’t know if there is any truth in that and maybe just hopeful thinking lol. When are you going to test again? It definitely is a rollercoaster and I can’t beleive I’m going through this on the first month we try. I will keep everything crossed for you xxx
