Hi Ladies,

Just looking for some wisdom/advice.. I'm 41 and had 3 MC since I started trying when I turned 39. Had all relevant tests done all normal.
Just had my AMH done and it's 10.4 which I think is low/normal for my age (I hate that "for your age" btw). My FSH is about 6 ISH.
1 MC was at 5wks the other 2 I got to 10wks.

Like many ladies on here I am seriously running out of time. I'm hopeful I'll get pregnant again in next 12 months but petrified I'll just MC again due to egg quality.
I'm starting acupuncture and anything else that can help.
Ive read loads on here about IVF as my friend is just going through her 2nd round IVF after the first one she MC. I've read so many people my age (and younger) who unfortunately had to have 2/3 tries at it.

My dilemma is that is simply couldn't afford more that one try and even that would be a stretch. My OH doesn't seem to have the same worries as me he is only 35 and says we will maybe consider IVF in next year or 2. But I know each month goes by my chances drop so IVF sooner rather than later!!
But I don't know whether to just carry on trying naturally because I can get pregnant it seems just can't hold on to them. I have recurrent miscarriage appointment in Oct but I think they will just tell me my egg quality is poor and there is nothing they can do :-(

Any advice? Any people in same position or have been and have positive stories?

Feeling really meh at the moment xx

Hi @wishingonastar77 just came across yiur post as I’m on another board for recurrent mc but possibly facing slightly diff issues from the others.

I’m 39, 40 in feb and had 3mcs in 12 months. I’m Lenin’s blood results and might have aps syndrome (clotting/sticky blood) first bloods low positive so waiting second blood results. I’ve just started acupuncture though so was interested in how you’re getting along,

My consultant said ivf isn’t really an option for us because we can conceive as all it does is put an embryo into your uterus which we can clearly do ourselves...

He suggested do at eggs could be an option if egg quality is the likely issue... hmm don’t really want that.

Anyway in the meantime I’ve self started coq10 supplements, fish oil and pregnancy vitamins plus acupuncture.

Hi wishing, it might be worth a try. I'm doing ivf for other issues but my friend is specifically doing it for the genetic testing due to multiple mc. In terms of the costs, the actual egg stimulation and collection is the most expensive part, so if you get a good 'harvest' they can freeze your leftovers and you can have several goes from one ivf cycle. The frozen transfer costs are much lower than the initial ivf costs, like $2000 compared with $10000 (I'm in australia). We're getting 5 goes from one cycle.

Anyway the specialist might be able to help with progesterone pessaries, genetic testing and fully understanding your womb lining etc. that could help prevent mc.

Good luck in your decision

And I'm really sorry you've been through three mcs, must have been so hard. 💐

Have you thought about using someone like access fertility they can offer finance packages in our case we could afford one cycle but we got two for the price of one by going through them rather than directly paying the clinic dunno how it work but it does! Confused

@Yukka thanks for your response. I had the same opinion about how IVF could help me if I just couldn't stay pregnant. But now as time goes on I'm just so eager to get pregnant again before my egg stocks and quality decline too much..

I see IVF as just a method to get me pregnant quicker if that makes sense..

I have been on Ubiquinol for over a year now (stopped when pregnant) and convinced it helped with quality when I got pg twice in a row. Even though I MC.

Just taking it again now to get in back I to my system.

I have had 3 sessions of acupuncture so far so will see how it goes!

I have been tested for APS came back negative. Will see what they say at recurrent MC clinic next week.

@catren thanks for taking the time to respond.. yes it was hard 😢 but we try to remain positive. My OH is only 35 so he doesn't have the same age related worries as me. I will really consider IVF in the new year I think if I haven't got PG naturally by then. Heard about PGS but also heard results can be misleading. Have you heard of mosaic eggs? Look it up it's interesting.

@coribeth thank you also 😘 I haven't heard of access fertility but just checked and the multi cycle one (buy one get up to 2 attempts) may be an option for us. Thanks for recommending. Were you successful with this? How old were you when you started the process?

Thanks x

I've been looking into ivf and think I read that 43 is the cut off at the private hospital I've been looking at so just be careful as by the time you jointly agree to it it may be too late.
I'd go for a consultation now so you know the options. Good luck x

WishingonaStar77 · 10/10/2018 08:15

@mrs40 thank you. Yes I'm so aware of my age I think if we did IVF it would have to be started early next year. I'm not 42 until Aug 19 but time = eggs x
