First time anxiety

Hi everyone! Hope this is right place to start this convo, and gain some advice from anyone who is a first time parent here...

My husband and I are talking about starting a family soon, and probably looking at TTC in the next few months (or at least get started trying!). He is super excited about it, but he has also said he is terrified of being a new parent. Speaking honestly to him, I said I was too! I have so many worries about the whole process and beyond, some may be completed unfounded...will I be a good mum? Will my body take the strain of pregnancy and labour? Will I be able to keep my anxious mind in check for the whole run?

I am planning to head to my GP for a pre-conception appointment to make sure I am healthy before getting started Smile

Did anyone else have a huge rush of crazy thoughts like this when they first decided to have their first baby? Or am I worrying over nothing?

Would be nice to hear everyone's thoughts and experiences!

I'd be concerned if you weren't nervous!
Having a child is a big step so it's perfectly natural - in fact, it's expected that you'll have all these thoughts, questions and concerns.

Everyone parent before you and every parent after you will have these thoughts.
The fact that you're even worrying shows that you'll be a good mum because you care.

I was utterly terrified (as well as excited) and also was concerned about how I'd cope with my anxiety.
Somehow, you just do.

While pregnant, there are so many people that you can turn to for support and once the baby is here, you'll have a health visitor to guide you through the first few weeks and baby groups are a life saver! It's nice to get out of the house and get a routine.

Being a parent is an amazing, exciting, terrifying, stressful, hilarious and wonderful thing.
You're going to love it xx

You are definitely not alone! My husband asks I are in the same boat. We were so nervous we considered delaying ttc, but after our first BFN we realised exactly how much we wanted it.
I think would be weird not to be worried as well as excited - It means you haven't thought about it enough!

Thank you ladies, it's very reassuring that I'm not going crazy and others have thought this way at some point! I think it has now got to the point where I can't let my fear get the better of me, and I'll never do anything if it takes control. How far are you on your journey BabyClicks? If you don't mind me asking?
