BFP but period cramps?

So, I got my BFP this morning after being 3 or 5 days late (not too sure but my lines are almost as strong as the control).

I keep having period cramps and I'm freaking out that either: the 3 tests I took are wrong, I'm about to miscarry or I have an ectopic. I'm an anxious person.

Any reassurance would be very welcome!! Thanks ladies

I had very convincing period pains until about week 6. In fact I put off doing a test because I was absolutely sure I was having a late period.

I had and still have (18 weeks) all sorts of pains now and again. In fact yesterday I had what felt like mild period pains.
Baby is wriggling away as I type though.

Try not to worry and don't google! Googling will convince you of the worst case scenario every time.

Currently 14 weeks and I've had cramping the whole time, defo in the early days. Mentioned it to my DM and she had the same with both her pregnancies 'like she was about to have the worst period'. Even my DF remembered that. NHS website says it's normal but to watch out for anything severe and bleeding (although you can have implantation bleeding). Try not to worry and repeat the test in a few maybe?

Sorry just seen you've already done 3 tests and are late so time for the GP?

gebs · 17/09/2018 17:20

Yes! I keep expecting my periods about to start, dull aches and cramps since I got bfp, I'm 6 weeks so still very early too x

artemis2 · 17/09/2018 17:51

Thank you everyone! That definitely makes me feel a lot better - I hope the cramps stop though because they've been non-stop for a week and I'm already getting frustrated about them!
@Gronk27 poor you - how did you cope for such a long time?

So, what is it that I'm supposed to do now? See my GP? Do I need to do anything else?

I bought a clear blue to see how many weeks along I am since I have irregular periods so hard to know when it was supposed to be due - waiting to do it with morning urine :)

Thanks again, ladies! You've been really reassuring!

Implantation pains I would say. I had them - was convinced my period was about to start any moment. Congratulations!

Gronk27 · 17/09/2018 18:35

It's very on and off! It starts as implantation and then turns into ligament pain which is your uterus stretching! It's uncomfortable but oddly reassuring!

Yep next step the doctors. Just go in and tell them you've done pregnancy tests then they either refer you to midwives/hospital or give you the details to refer yourself.

I recommend joining the MN group for your due month if someone's set one up. It's been a great support for me.

period cramps are normal in early pregnancy and usually stop when the pregnancy is more established. As long as they are not very painful or accompanied by bleeding, they are nothing to worry about .

SSRainbow · 17/09/2018 19:28

Hi I have exactly the same, I’m only four weeks + 2... but have been getting cramps and I’m starting to eel waves of nausea already 😫 I didn’t have any sickness with my first two until 6 weeks. Have you had any other symptoms?x

artemis2 · 17/09/2018 19:33

Thank you everyone for the information! You can probably tell this is my first so I have no clue about anything hehe...

@Gronk27 what is an MN group and how do I find out about one? Thank you very much - that sounds like it would be very helpful!

And @SSRainbow, I actually felt very nauseous today but been blaming it on nerves! My boobs ache a tiny bit and that's it for symptoms. I hope your nausea goes away and if not, then that at least it stops 2 weeks earlier than it did with your other 2! Maybe you're going through it early this time and you'll have more time without it? :) xx

Sorry! Mumsnet group/chat/thread. So I joined one where all the ladies are due March and we can all discuss our symptoms, share scan pics, etc.
