I'll write this in bullet points so it's easy to follow!

  • came off pill 2 weeks ago.
  • had unprotected sex twice Friday 14th September (once where he finished in me and once where he didn't - sorry if tmi)
  • had jelly like discharge Saturday 15th September and other symptoms prior to this.
  • had sex again on the Saturday 15th sept (pulled out)
  • had sex again Sunday 16th sept (pulled out)

We are not necessarily ttc but not preventing either. We aren't really fussed and just a case of whatever happens, happens so we don't get too stressed out with worrying about trying and not conceiving etc. But I think I could be in with a good chance? I would be over the moon and so would he if I was but I'm just not sure what to think!

Still haven't had AF since coming off the pill (I know it's quite soon) my periods were regular before coming off pill so hoping it will get back to normal soon!

When should I test?
What was the jelly like discharge?
Do you think I could have conceived? My nipples are quite sensitive today too!

Thank you in advance 😊

I'm not an expert but I've had jelly like discharge the days after having unprotected sex where I'm assuming it's sperm that's not made it.
Conception can take a while to happen as well so from your dates I'd say test at the end of the month (about the 27th) as they're close to my dates

When I've googled this discharge it has said ovulation discharge so I assumed that it was that?
But yes okay I shall test then, I just want to know what my chances are too... quite excited but trying not to get my hopes up too much

Ewcm (egg white discharge) is very easily confused with old semen so could just be from the day before, ifyswim...

All you can do is test two weeks after last unprotected sex. Your cycle may or may not look and be quite different to how it was pre-pill as our cycles change as we get older. It can also take awhile to ov after coming off the pill.

Patience - you're likely too early to test. 80% of couples will conceive within a year with regular (every 2-3 days) unprotected sex.

Okay, I haven't been on the pill for long (less than a year) and when I was not on the pill I also had jelly discharge at a certain time every month so I think it could be ovulation as it is not really egg white consistency, it is egg white colour but a jelly texture to it!

But yes time will tell I suppose

Statistically your chances will be quite low after coming off pill recently and only having contact with sperm once. There’s always a chance though Smile .

Good luck

Yes true! But then you can fall pregnant even if you miss one pill right? And what are the chances of falling pregnant if you use withdrawal method?

Thank you 😊

Depends if the male is a secretor or not (whether or not there is sperm in his pre-ejaculate). Some men are not secretors and the pull-out method is fairly effective. Having sex with a man who is a secretor has about a 20% 'failure' rate. This is why pull out is so unreliable - it is generally unknown whether or not an individual man secretes sperm or not.

A woman has a max 25% of conceiving in a given cycle with perfectly timed sex.

artemis2 · 18/09/2018 03:28

I think it's very unlikely you'd be pregnant after only having intercourse once (the other times don't count as he pulled out). But there's always a chance! Stretchy colourless fluid usually indicates you're getting close to ovulation, but this changes when you actually ovulate.

If you don't have luck this cycle, try having sex every 2-3 days. And he shouldn't pull out if you're TTC. Best of luck! :)

Speaking from experience, it can only take one time sometimes....

staypositive19 · 18/09/2018 11:48

Okay so what is all your opinions of when I should take a test? Considering the dates above! X

28th shouid give you an accurate result but if you test again on 30th that’ll give you a definite answer. You may well get your period before that. It can take 6 months for cycles to become regular after coming off the pill.

Great! Thanks!
