Shettles Method

Hello, I am just curious as to whether anyone has tried the Shettles method and got the gender they were trying for? With my daughter we didn't use Shettles and just had sex every 2 or 3 days. With my last 3 pregnancies we have used Shettles and only done the deed when a Clearblue digital ovulation test went from the flashing face for pre-ovulation to the solid face for egg releasing. All 3 pregnancies have been boys, which is in line with what Shettles says you'll get. Sadly the first 2 didn't make it home but the third one is still cooking now and due in November. I'm just interested to know if anyone has had similar results when trying to get a boy as I read a lot online about it being a crock of poop. Friends used the method to try and get a girl and it worked for them but could be pot lock.

I did it 4/5 days before ovulation and ended up with DS. Did it day of ovulation this time but don't know what this one will be, but I'm pretty sure it's another boy so in my experience it makes no difference.

It's been conclusively demonstrated that Shettles was completely wrong about what he thought he was seeing. The two types of sperm are not "boy sperm" and "girl sperm" and sperm carrying X and Y do not behave differently.

Any time you have a 50% chance of getting what you "want" whatever you do you'll have oodles of people prepared to swear that some old gubbins worked when it's the operation of pure chance. The only way to "get" a baby of a particular sex is sex-selective IVF. You can't "sway".

What did you end up getting doing it on ovulation?

Yes, tried it to get a girl but just didn’t get pregnant while we were restricting ourselves to having sex before ovulation. Gave up in the end and got pregnant straight away - a second boy. I suspect it’s a load of rubbish though.

We didn't use any method as hadn't heard of any methods of gender swaying.. but we did concieve both daughters a few days before ovulation, so if we were following it I guess it would have worked for us!
