Spotting instead of period poss low progesterone

Hi, just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same as me?

I'm 38 years old and used to have short light periods lasting 2/3 days. I have a little girl who is 2 years old and I am currently ttc.

In May I miscarried at 7 weeks (measuring 6 weeks) and since then I have spotting instead of a what I would class as a normal period for 5-8 days.

The last 3 months my cycle has been exactly 27 days long (used to be 26) so the cycle lengh appears back to normal. Per Clearblue Ov tests I had a LH surge on either day 15 or 16 since a May... Then this month the surge was day 19, yesterday. I am having a progesterone 'day 21' blood test on Monday which should be 5/6dpo... I think this is the right time to take the test as I have ovulated later than normal this month so expect my period will be later.

Has anyone's periods changed this way after a miscarriage? Did you end up having low progesterone? Also did you have this but manage to conceive? Trying not to stress but its all I can think about, it is only month 5 ttc since the miscarriage but I worry now am I even ovulating.

Thanks for reading!! Xx

Hi @Buzybee80 I'm in exactly the same position (also month 5 since miscarriage). Very sorry to hear of your loss. I used to have cycles that were 24 days long and since the miscarriage they have been 28, 27, 27, 35 and this month it's going to be another long one because it's cd23 and still no ovulation. I'm temping so my app tells me when I've ovulated. I'm also going to do the day 21 progesterone test this month. What I would say to you is try not to worry, unfortunately miscarriage can causes the cycles to mess up whilst the hormones settle. The good news is you're getting this looked at and they will be able to treat low progesterone if it is indeed causing issues. Please do tell your GP of your concerns, they will reassure you :)

Hi @mistymeow

Aww thank you, sorry for your loss too. It does seem crazy how much it can mess your cycle up but yes this is what I'm finding, with most people it takes awhile to get back to whatever 'normal' is.

I havent started temping yet so think ill do this from next cycle. I actually feel like I have some ovulation symptons but then I also have pregnacy symptons every month as well lol! Just hate the tww... Yes my doctor has been quite good he sent me for a scan in July and everything was ok in there and he has referred me for these tests quickly as well.

Hopefully we both get good day 21 test results :) xx
