Louise, you can get extra sensitive tests via the internet which allow you to test a bit earlier than when your period is due, but it's good to know roughly when you ovulate as there is a threshold for testing at so many days past ovulation. I think 8 is the minumum days post ovulation you can test.

Hi Kneazlechick,

We only decided to try for another earlier this month as I have had real problems since my first pregnancy. Had terrible sciatica and spent the last 3 months of pg on crutches. Had a brilliant birth and then all the problems started with my back. Have had 2 slipped discs with sciatica again, and am just recovering from spinal surgery. Spoke to my consultant yesterday for my 6 week post op check up and although he can't rule out it happening again, he has told me to go for it to ttc. He has been brill. He's signed me off for a further 6 weeks to fully recover from the surgery and given me the go ahead to try for no. 2.

This is a fantastic site, as it took me 3 years to conceive my son and I didn't know anything about these type of forums then.
It's great being at home with a laptop 'resting' and surfing the net!

libralady · 19/07/2007 12:33

Is anyone on this thread ttc using the agnus castus?
I've seen it mentioned on other forum and am wandering whether or not to give it a go and sometimes my cycles do vary.

kneazlechick · 19/07/2007 12:34

libralady - glad to hear that you have a supportive dr. When I first went to my gp I was worried that he would drag his heals but it was really quick, less than 2 1/2 months from first visit to diagnosis and prescription! Not bad really (tho I know there are a lot of people with crap health care)

How old is your dc#1? I have a 16mo dd. Who has just woken up - gotta go

LouiseX · 19/07/2007 12:35

Its hard for me to know right now when im ovulating because of the m/c. Im so stressed!!! I think if im sick again tonight then i will go doctors in morn, but will they be able to tell by blood test or anything so soon??

libralady · 19/07/2007 12:41

kneazlechick,

My ds is 3.3 and has just recentrly started to ask why others at his playschool have more than one car seat in the cars. When I have explained, he then stated he wanted a baby sister called Becky Tucker - the name of one of the girls in his class!
It is difficult. My DH has alrways wanted 3 children, and initially I didn't want any. It wasn't until my Uncle died in 2001 I suddenly thought to myself, I would have nothing to show for my life. My son is my pride an joy and I can think of no better thing than to have another child to make our family complete. Time is marching on as I am approaching 38 and with it taking 3 years to conceive my ds, has time already passed me by! Although saying that, there was no way I could even contemplate having another whilst my back was so screwed. It's great being able to get on the floor and play with my ds now. Sorry I'm waffling!

kneazlechick · 19/07/2007 14:38

libralady - waffle away It took 3 yrs to conceive my dd too. Do you know why it took so long? I had no idea about ttc before, we just thought we'd let nature take its course. This time is different because I don't want a big age gap. So I went to the doctors and have been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries. That is why it took so long last time and there is a good chance that I might never conceive again if we leave it to chance - I ov about 3 times a year and there is no way of knowing when it's going to happen. Have you spoken to anyone about ttc#2 - from a fertility point of view, I mean?

Sorry if this is too personal, feel free to tell me to push off

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 19/07/2007 15:07

Anyone got an idea of what HCg level a first response detects?? i am day 26 of a 30 day cycle and am think about testing to put myself out of the misery I have got myself in again but dont want to waste one if its too early!

kneazlechick · 19/07/2007 15:08

Have you tried peeonastick.com? They probably have it listed.

you OK?

libralady · 19/07/2007 17:56

Hi kneazlechick,

Yes, I too was diagnosed with PCOS and was told the possibility of getting pregnant was negligable. I was precribed a course of Clomid. Picked it up on the Friday to start at my next af, which was already a week late, and on the Sunday, discovered I was already pregnant with no assistance

kneazlechick · 19/07/2007 17:59

Wow - that was lucky Do you think you will go down the Clomid route this time?

kneazlechick · 19/07/2007 18:00

OMG - I just saw the time of your message - it looks like I've been sitting here the whole time I haven't, honestly. Oh, well, believe what you want

libralady · 19/07/2007 18:46

To be honest I don't really know. It's early days yet. As I said before, we only conciously decided last weekend after a deep and meaningful and now I am on cd11 so will be bd'ing like mad for the next few days and will see what happens.

libralady · 19/07/2007 18:49

It looks like I'm permanently on here as well, but I promise you, I only refresh the page each time I wander through the lounge and most times I find a message from your good self. Are we addicted?

Blessed2 · 20/07/2007 11:06

I've been lurking for ages!!! I didn't know what CLOMID was so I did and mumnet search and boy did I find out lots!!!! Plus mention of this site which I hope some of you check out!!! www.fertilityfriends.co.uk It really answered a lot of questions for me plus I shouldn't just put up with being 'secondary unexplained infertility' and what further test I can get done. Plus, because I've being ttc for more than 3 years I don't want to really post here because I don't want to discourage anyone - having been trying for sooooo much longer than most of you. Well I'm off lurking again

LouiseX · 20/07/2007 11:12

Hey anyone got any ideas -

I m/c about 4 weeks ago - been ttc straight away - past 3 nights have been sick everynight before go to sleep (which is what i had when pregnant b4) and this morning sick aswell!!

What do you think early symptoms?? or what??

kneazlechick · 20/07/2007 12:28

Hi ladies

Some sunshine to brighten this dreary day.

Louise - I'm sorry, I'm not very knowledgable about these things. Did you have a bfn before you ttc again? Have you tested yet since you started feeling sick? When is your period due? I think ladylush said there are some extra sensitive tests you can get that mean you can test several days before you're due so I'd get some of those if you can. Also, speak to your gp. They will probably tell you to wait a few days, but it may settle your mind a bit.

Blessed - don't just lurk, come and join us! It took just over 3 years to conceive my dd. We decided to let nature take its course and weren't in any hurry. This time I want to get things moving as I don't want a big gap between my dc, so I asked and have been diagnosed with PCOS so it's unlikely I'll conceive again without help. If I were you I'd be pushing hard for some treatment, unless you are happy to wait

Scorpio - how was the dinner the other night? Did you have fun in the end?

ladylush - you OK today?

libralady - I know what you mean; I refresh the page every so often and post if there have been any changes. Makes it look like I sit here doing nothing else all day

Hope you are all well and happy today, despite the weather - and no, I don't want to hear about it if it's sunny in Cornwall!!!

LouiseX · 20/07/2007 12:52

Kneazlechick - I did test before i ttc and it was negative. I do not know when my period is due because of the m/c but it has been about 5 weeks now since i m/c. I have not tested yet because 1. i don't know whether it would be too early to test and 2. im scared! I was sick again last night and this morning.

kneazlechick · 20/07/2007 12:56

You sound like you're going thru the mill again. Can't be easy. Is there a chance you can see a dr this afternoon? I know they probably won't do much but, like I say, it might just settle your mind a bit.

LouiseX · 20/07/2007 13:02

Im considering it but soo scared! I don't know whether i should wait and see what happens tonight and tomorrow and then maybe test tomorrow. I kind of don't want to ask for a bloodtest because id rather find out it was a negative on my own and then if it was a positive ring and tell the dr the good news! But seeing as i don't know when im due on i don't know when the best time to test is or anything!?

kneazlechick · 20/07/2007 13:14

As you don't know when to test, you don't know if you are testing early or not. So, I think you are right. See how you go tonight and in the morning then, if you are still feeling sick, test. If it is -ve don't panic. There is every chance that you are pg but too early. I would seriously consider calling your dr soon if the symptoms don't ease, there is obviously something not quite right. Can you call them on a Saturday? Here we only have an emergency service at the weekends.

I've got everything crossed for you

kneazlechick · 20/07/2007 13:16

It's probably best to wait until the morning then you can use fmu which is the most reliable.

libralady · 20/07/2007 19:14

Hi everyone,
Just caught up with all the messages as I've been in rainy Bristol today visiting Ikea (I live down in Poole in Dorset), so have had a long day so far and it isn't over yet.
Hi Louise, sorry I don't have any suggestions for you, but I agree with Kneazlechick to see what happens tonight and if necessary test tomorrow. If you still have concerns, how about contacting NHS Direct if you have no surgeries over the weekend.

ladylush · 20/07/2007 21:59

I have been very disappointed with NHS Direct everytime I've used them Libra - wasn't the flooding in Bristol awful Saw pics on the news today It was bad here too but we live on a hill so no damage. The main road was badly flooded and trains were not running the full route as some of the stations were under water.
