Is this a positive Ovulation test?

Hi ladies,
We are planning to start trying next month for baby number 2 but I haven’t used ovulation test before.. I’m trying to work out my cycle and when I ovulate before we start trying. I’m unsure if this picture is a positive before it’s faint and read it has to be a dark line? Does a faint line mean I’m close to ovulation? I didn’t get a faint line on any other day.

It's a negative test, the other like had to be as dark as the test line, or darker.

I'm not sure, every time I've done those I've always had a faint line, but if you're getting some colour progression I would have thought so. I never had a fully positive ovulation test and I've got four kids so I must ovulate, it's really easy to miss it as you have to be very accurate as to the time of day you test. I think your best bet is a digital test.

Ok thanks for your help! Hopefully will get a positive soon but if not I’ll just carry on DTD and see what happens 😉

No but keep testing - it will probably turn positive in a day or 2.

Hello @Rightnow1245 I would say it's negative I will attach a photo of mine from this month as it was the first time we used them and I too wasn't sure what counted untill I did one he next day :)

Yes three days in a row all around the same time (2pm) as your advised not to use your morning wee, but advised to be 4 hours after last wee before you test :)

I thought the middle one was a positive at first as never used them but held out and got the darker one the day after & didn't test again after that :)

I use internet cheapies and did it for a month or two to get hang of how dark I make the line when I ovulate as people differ. I also use first morning wee as it's the strongest though I do test through day when I can when I think I'm getting close to ovulation.

I sadly also line a months worth of the sticks together so I can compare and see progression ( with cycle day number underneath as I am truly sad)

I would read the instructions on your test as to the when to test as mine do say not to use your morning wee as the high concentrate can give you a false positive.

Isn't it funny how it can differ? I've used two fertility clinics ( one for first child and one for now ) and both said first morning pee though I have seen instructions saying use early afternoon pee.

No wonder it makes it tricky to conceive lol

If it's any reassurance I've never had a false positive but go with what you feel will keep you most sane - I don't know whether I could pee early afternoon each day with work and meetings xx

It was a nightmare. I work 12 hour shifts & was on nights at the time so I went to sleep at 8.30 had to set an alarm for 10 too pee then another alarm for 2 too pee & test then an alarm for 3.30 to actually get up for work!

The day it was positive I didn't even wait for the result I got back in bed and fell asleep in seconds, woke up half an hour later to my boyfriend jumping on the bed telling me to wake up because it was a dark line... safe to say I was tired that night at work!!

You should always wait the full 10 minutes to establish if it’s a positive or not.

Are you taking your bbt as well? A positive opk only shows you the LH surge thy tells you that your body is geared up to ovulate (within 36 hours) but it’s no guarantee that you will ovulate. Some people get a few surges before actually ovulating. The only way to know for definite is to record your basal temperature which will show if you did or didn’t ovulate.

Thanks halfblood no I’m not taking my bbt, I might start tho as like you said that’s the best way to know if I’ve actually ovulated!
