Random late ovulation

Hello ladies

8th month TTC here and my chart is weird. I usually ovulate on day 13 with the occasional 14. This month BBT stayed low (below 36.2) until day 21 then it follows my usual slow rise pattern, so FF pinned ov on day 21, making AF due on Thursday.

Then two days ago my temp plummeted from 36.7 to 36.1 and stayed there until yesterday, so FF recalculated ov onto day 18 (which is also followed by a 0.2 degree rise) and told me to expect AF yesterday.

Today my temp is back up to 36.7 and no signs of AF (I usually get light spotting the day before and have nothing whatsoever). I was mega teary yesterday and I'm not a cryer at all, so I assumed it was PMT.

So not really sure what's going on this month, I've been charting since Jan and things have been so predictable so far. Has anyone else experienced this sort of randomness after months of regularity? Totally not expecting BFP, more just wondering if anyone has had the late ov before.

No idea, but month 14 trying and similarly ovulated 5 days later than normal- normally like clockwise. Very confusing. I googled it and apparently vigorous exercise can delay things. I've recently started going to the gym 3x a week though wouldn't say I exercise vigorously...

Ah, now that's interesting. I started cycling to work occasionally in July. It's a 23 mile round trip but mainly on the flat. I'm pretty fit, have been swimming a few times a week for the last couple of years, and trained for a triathlon last year, so this doesn't feel 'vigorous' by my standards! Maybe all it takes is a slight step up in your exercise routine to mess around with your hormones?!

Could be? I really don't know but I'm so fed up with failing to conceive now. I know I'm overweight and could be healthier hence the gym, but now that's making it harder to conceive too. It wouldn't be such a big deal but DP wants us to stop trying in December as he doesn't want to be an old dad and feels there needs to be a cut off. I'm really feeling the time pressure

Yeah I'm really frustrated too. Don't beat yourself up about your weight - I've never been overweight, have never smoked, hardly drink and haven't even had caffeine this year and am still getting nowhere. It really just comes down to luck, and that just seems to be in short supply!

We're going to take a break for a couple of months now. DP is a teacher and sees how the kids born in summer tend to struggle, so we're going to give ourselves the chance to think about other stuff until for the rest of the year. He doesn't want to be an old dad either, but this is nature, not amazon prime, so he'll have to lump it!

We have said though that after a certain point we'll probably stop and have a rethink. We deliberately live close to family so that we could have help with childcare if we needed it, but if it turns out it's never going to happen, then we can have a bit of freedom and maybe go and live abroad and do things you can't do when you've got children. I guess I'm trying to not pin my only chance of happiness on being a mum, just in case it never happens for me.
