Hello Ladies,

I really would appreciate your advice/ opinions on this as I’m so confused..

Been on the combined pill for about a year and a half. This month I missed the 7th pill (took two next day) and 9th (took two the next day). We BD 9th and 11th CD ... on 14CD I had a sharp pain on left side of my abdominal and spotting (pink). Then the bleeding got heavier to now dark red and brown dried bits.. and I have been using tampons but they’re only partly soaked (TMI sorry). So essentially, I’ve been bleeding 14-18... think it is finally stopping today (CD18).. what do you think has happened? I know it may be breakthrough bleeding but I also forgot to mention that I’ve been having a fair bit of left hand side cramps low down (below panty line) which moved to left hand side of my lower back yesterday.

Any advice would be appreciated so much! Thanks x

Sounds like breakthrough bleeding because you've not been taking your pill properly. The pains could be due to that too, but I would get checked out by a GP if they continue.

Update - bleeding has now turned back to spotting. Feel tired and moody with a runny nose most mornings. It’s CD19 today. Any ideas??

It sounds like breakthrough bleeding but as you've missed multiple pills (taking over 24 hours late even if double dose classed as missed) I'd recommend you to a pregnancy test 3 weeks after last sex . If you've missed pills in your previous pack I'd also suggest you do a test now to rule out any pregnancy from previous risks.
Did you use condoms for 7 days after your missed pills on the occasions you had sex?
Do you often miss pills? Is this method right for you? Maybe a longer acting method would be better if you sometimes forget your pills.

Thanks KnitKitty and lennyisnuts!

Just wondering though.. with the breakthrough bleeding which feels almost like a period but not quite.. is it still possible I ovulated? When should I be doing a test?

Thank you
