Help.. I need to think of an excuse!

My MIL has offered to pay for a two week cruise next summer.. but DH and I are on our 2nd month of TTC and it's possible I could (hopefully) be pregnant by then. The cruise liner doesn't allow pregnant women over 24 weeks to sail, and doesn't allow babies under 6 months.

We are really struggling to come up with an excuse! Would like to avoid having to tell her we are TTC because we had a chemical last month and I don't want people knowing for a while.

Anyone had a similar situation or can think of an excuse?

Say you're applying for next year's Bake Off and you have 100% faith in yourself that you'll be baking in the tent next summer 😂

we would love to go but a friend is probably getting married and you can't miss that wedding or you can't get work to confirm if you can get the annual leave

"no thanks, we hate cruises"

Three good sets of reasons not to go ^

Good luck and hope all goes well.

Thanks everyone! We do have two weddings next summer so fingers crossed they are in that window.

Have you looked at the dates and worked out when you could or couldn't fall pregnant? Like we have booked to go away in March next year, so I'm good to get pregnant now because I would be less than 28 weeks. Could you work out when you would be less than 24 weeks if you tried and let her wait to book it until then? Imagine how sad you will feel if everyone else goes and you stay home and your still trying?

I have, for example if I were to (miraculously) concieve this cycle my due date would be 4th June and the holiday is first two weeks in July. They have already booked up their places and are offering to pay for us because the cruise are doing a 2 for 1 deal this month.

We would need to stop trying for 3 or 4 months for me to be 24 weeks-ish at around the time they are planning to go, but that's assuming I can pick and choose dates which I unfortunately can't. It's a tricky one!

Do you mean that if you weren't ttc you would want to go on a two-week cruise with your in-laws??
