Hello ladies. I have just booked my smear test for 2 weeks time. Currently TTC and in my 2ww and receptionist advised for me to wait until after my AF is due to make sure I'm not preg. My test is booked for CD 8 (2 days after AF will need). Does this mean that I won't be able to try next month or can we have unprotected sex after the smear as normal? I know the only stipulation is to not have sex 24h before having the test done but what about after? Will it hamper my chances of conceiving next month?

You can carry on TTC after the test as normal, the smear test won’t have any effect on your chances of conceiving.

As an aside and in case anyone reading this is in the same situation, it’s a really good idea to get the smear test out of the way before you are pregnant. The results aren’t reliable if the test is done during pregnancy and for up to three months after. So if you get pregnant around the time you are due for a smear test then you’d delay it for about a year, and obviously a lot can change in a year. So it’s great that you are going now!
