21 day blood results - not allowed my own results

I went for the blood tests Monday and called the doctor surgery today to see if they were back. Receptionist told me they were but the doctor hadn't looked at them yet - fair enough. Once he's looked if he's concerned they will call me for an appointment to see him. But if not I won't hear from them. I asked if I could get a copy of the results anyway even if it turns out he doesn't want to see me and was told no....is this right?
I am sure I've seen ladies posting results of their 21 day blood tests on here before whether they were good or bad
Advice needed 🙈🙈

My surgery have always been happy to supply results, past and present (in fact you can even register online and see your whole medical record). The hospital I had blood tests at recently also shared the results when I asked for them.

@79andnotout thank you!
I'm happy for the doctor to view them first and decide whether he needs to speak to me or not but after that I am going to request a copy of them

They legally have to give you the results if you ask for them. Don't let them get away with fobbing you off. Fair enough that your doc wants to see them first as they may want to put their notes in. What I do is ask reception to print them out, then I go and collect them. I have a feeling they are not allowed to give you specifics over the phone, which might be what she means.
I had to do this with my Thyroid test results, I really had to argue with them to get them printed. I turned out I was 0.01 below the cut off for general normal range which is still dangerous for ttc for miscarriages etc. 🙄

@FlapJackered thank you!

I called back yesterday and was told to call 2 hours later to see if I was allowed to see them 🤔🤔

When I called back the doctor had added a note that he didn't need to see me as results appeared normal which is a relief.

I asked for a copy to be printed and she had to ask her colleague if she could do that - she came back and said she could so I am collecting them Monday.

Thanks for the advice xx

So....since my last message I have been told my results were normal and doctor didn't want to see me which is great news, however, I asked for a printout of my results (had to push for this) and when I collected it it is literally a piece of paper that says each thing they tested for and then "normal result" after. No number or figures!! I'm so frustrated by this all!....should I call them again and ask for a print out my actual results - numbers and all??
And just to add to this all af is 3 days late, negative tests so I know I'm not pregnant I don't even bother getting my hopes up anymore but I'm so frustrated it's late. I just want it here so I can start my next cycle😫

Call and ask to speak to the practice manager.

They are your records and you are entitled to see them.

Not sure what they’re testing for but for example a TSH (thyroid) level of 4 would be in normal range but not optimal for trying to conceive. Other vitamins and minerals (eg folate) might be at the bottom of normal range and should be higher for pregnancy.

You’re entitled to know your results.

My practice has an online system now and I can see all my blood test results going back years.

Acht sorry @bama4 that sounds really frustrating. I would definitely talk to the surgery and ask why the actual results were not included. I have never just had the results printed like that without the numbers. If you can't get anywhere with reception, I would book an appointment with your doctor and ask her/him to print them out for you.
As sinkgirl mentioned Thyroid is a ridiculous normal range in this country. Mine was 4.98 and that is considered normal but for ttc between 1-2 is recommended to avoid problems incl miscarriages and abnormalities. Good luck

Thanks for the support - I tried calling today and it was engaged so will try again tomorrow and make an appointment if they won't give them to me
Among others It's testosterone, FSH, LH and progesterone that have been tested so while a result can be "normal" I want to know that is in the middle of the range not very close to being too high or low as that could be a reason I'm not getting my BFP.

@bama4 did you manage to get your results in the end? If so I hope they were ok.

bama4 · 23/09/2018 10:41

Hi @FlapJackered
Thanks for checking back in
Still haven't got my actual results although I haven't been overly pushy yet. Rang a few times and they're always engaged.
Plan to try all day on my day off this week till I get through and ask for them. 🤞🏼 it's simple!
