spotting before periods

I now realise I have been spotting before my period and that instead of thinking I have a 25 days cycle, I think I still have my 28 days, but been spotting a few days before. This all makes sense. I thought I had a late ovulation day, but realised that you count your first day of period from when your heavy flow starts, not just the spotting. At least that is what I am thinking now after doing research. I was a bit confused on when do you count your first day of your cycle, but after reading, it seems you count the first day of the cycle when the bleeding starts...not the spotting...but the actually heavier bleeding. Anyway, I am hoping to try again this month and see if it all works out!

Does anyone else spot before the actual period starts? Did you count the first day of your cycle when you start spotting or when the heavier flow starts?

I spot a couple of day before and yes I don't start counting until I have heavy flow. I have an app on my phone that I can put in spotting or my period. It doesn't restart my cycle until I input my period.

Yes this took me so long to get used to! I spot a few days before on most months that way know I'm not pregnant Sad but when you realise it's so much more helpful and easier to realise when you normally ovulate x

It's called Clue @Mamabear12

Don't think the flow has to be heavy, just freely flowing like! So spotting wouldn't count, but any sort of flow would. But wouldn't your cycle end up being 28 days no matter how you count?

Sorry yes I don't know why I said heavy flow I meant free flow.

No bc if I count spotting days my cycle was 24-25 days. But if I don’t count they 28 days.
