How long should I wait? Conceiving after MMC

Hi everyone. I had recently had a missed miscarriage and found out at my 12 week scan there no heartbeat at 9 weeks. I had no choice but to have D&C procedure as my body had not recognised the loss. That was 4 weeks ago now. 1 week ago I got a negative test back which was good to know my body is getting back to normal - but does that mean my period is on its way? The waiting game is exhausting me. I have been told by a few people that you can try again whenenever your ready yet the hospital told me to wait until after my first cycle. Some advice would be great please thank you. I know women are so so strong to carry and birth a baby but my gosh to go through this awful experience too mentally and physically - we are superheroes. It’s opened my eyes to a lot of things! Xx

Sorry for your loss Thanks

I lost my first pregnancy in similar circumstances, MMC at 10 weeks. I had medical management, then a period and conceived the following month. My daughter is now 1 Smile

Thank you ❤️ It’s nice to hear a positive story & I really hope mine is similar. I’m really ready to be a mummy now xx

I conceived two months after, and then two months after again. Second time was successful!

I got my period almost exactly a month after my surgery.

Sorry you've had this happen, its shit

Thank you ❤️ It is shit but it’s so nice to talk to others who have been through the Same so thank you for taking the time to comment.

Hi....I had a very similar experience too (even down to the 9/12 week). We waited the first cycle. I continued to have a few twinges all that cycle so I'm glad I let myself rest. My period returned 5 weeks after my ERPC. We have been trying a few cycles now but I'm 43 now so if you're born in 89 as your name indicates your chances are better. Good luck!

Hi @Babycakes1989 and other's. Sorry you're in this position I had a miscarriage 1st August and currently only just having my period and I'm now concerned whether it'll harm my body if I try again after this has stopped x

So sorry for your loss. The hospital told me to wait a full cycle purely so they could date my pregnancy should I fall pregnant right away. So my opinion is to try again as soon as you’re ready. We decided to try right away, and I fell pregnant again the cycle after my first period. (It took me over a year to fall pregnant with the MMC so I was dreading how long it’d take).
Best of luck Flowers

I had a mmc which ‘completed’ end of April 17. (Long drawn out, unsuccessful procedure).
I wanted to have a period before ttc again because as silly as it sounds I felt it would give me a fresh start.
I then conceived in September 17. I’ve now got a 3 month old dd. Smile

Thank you ladies. 😍 looks like I'm going to try straight after! Just wanted some advice x

Babycakes1989 · 02/09/2018 21:02

Same. Thanks Ladies ❤️ I think I’m gunna wait till the P arrives just to be in the safe Sadie. I feel like I’m getting hot flushes, mood swings and spotty so think it won’t be long now. Then try again, I feel a bit insensitive saying that - I won’t ever forget that feeling for my little bean that I had for those few months and what they taught me but I feel the only way I can move on is to keep trying. Big hugs to you all and thanks again xx

Bit worried though as I've forgotten a few folic acid pills recently!!!

Babycakes1989 · 02/09/2018 21:37

I’m sure it will be 👍 I’ve only just taking mine again after the Mc as I couldn’t look at the packet with the baby bump on without welling up. Taking vitamins though & trying to eat healthy just to help in general.
