TTC after being on the pill

Hi,
Im so grateful to have found this forum, been really struggling with TTC recently especially with seeing lots of my friends get pregnant so easily. I know its not long, but its so hard and I just need a space to talk to someone who understands.

Been off the pill for 9 months, periods still haven't returned- is this normal? Anyone else took a long time to regulate after being on the pill? I'm not even sure if I'm ovulating as I've been tracking my cycle and symptoms, doing everything as we should in the bedroom and all the other things recommended when TTC like vitamins, no drinking etc, and nothing. Would any of you like to share your experiences of TTC after the pill? I'm worried something is wrong.

Wishing you all luck on your TTC journey. Xxx

Hi,

I was on the pill for over 10 years due to extreme period pain from a young age. I was worried that this would cause issues with my period returning but it took about 3 months and it was back to normal. I’m not sure how long it’s taken other people but personally I would be keen to ask the dr some questions if it’s been 9 months. I’ve been ttc for 2 years and have unexplained fertility. But I had done blood tests done which showed that I was ovulating etc so I guess you could ask the doctors for that blood test?

I was in a similar position to you. I saw my GP and was told it's not unusual and won't be investigate for 12 months. Mine didn't return in that time, and I was given some tablets to make it happen.

I wish they would make it clear that it can take some time for periods to get back to normal when they prescribe the pill.

I've been off 3 months and apart from one day of pitiful spotting I've had no period either.
Doctors aren't interested until it's been a year apparently so I've been trying to be proactive - I'm taking Agnus Castus and also have just started acupuncture to try and get a cycle back!
Who knows if it works, but it helps me feel like I'm doing something Grin

I’ve literally just posted a fairly similar topic to this.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been waiting so long. I’ve heard that if it’s been more than 3 months you should visit the doctor.

I stopped the pill 8 months ago. My period took 4 months to return. I’m now having 6 week cycles and spotting before AF which is not how my cycles used to be at all. I’m worried I’m low on progesterone. No luck TTC yet (had one chemical pregnancy) so I’m guessing I will have to continue to wait till it settles.

I wish the advice on this were clearer! My GP said to stop 1-2 months before TTC. If I’d have realised I would have stopped much sooner to let my body get back to normal before TTC.

Hope AF returns soon!

Thank you for the replies. Wishing you all lots of luck! I think I'll make an appointment with the GP just for peace of mind xx
