Very light period

My dh and I dtd during my fertile period or so I thought, but didn’t get pregnant as negative tests and my period came. It came one day early and I’m four days in, but it’s super light. Normally I have very heavy periods with one day of intense bleeding (filling the pad and leaking at night time). But anyway this time it’s so incrediblely light and A few drops on the pad every day and light blood when I wipe. I took a pregnant test today just to rule out as I read some women can bleed early in pregnancy. I never did with my first two. We are trying for a third. I literally got pregnant with my first two first try. This time we didn’t get lucky the first time. But my question is, why suddenly is my period so light? Has anyone had randomly a very light period? I get paranoid about things such as ectopic pregnancy.

@Mamabear12 Hi. I would maybe call the doctor and ask for their opinion on this? It's probably nothing and might just be your hormones differing this month, causing you to have a light period. However, I would be thinking the same as you and worrying about ectopic. I am actually worrying about that myself at the moment too. I'm pretty sure I'm 9DPO today (could maybe be just 8), we dtd nearly every day leading up to ovulation and I think we did the day of ovulation too. Then at 5dpo I started getting cramping, then over the last 2 days the cramping has been severe and my boobs have been tender. I remember when I was around 6 weeks pregnant with both of my sons, that I had severe cramping. So bad that I was curled up in a ball on the floor and even went to A&E. Both times, I got checked by EPU and it was all fine. So,! got excited and thought this must be the same thing, but earlier at 3 weeks. But I've done loads of tests and they're all coming back negative and now my boobs feel empty and I feel moody, which usually signifies that AF is coming for me! The pain was unbearable in the last couple of days though- so much so, that I couldn't even drive yesterday because the cramps were so bad! I never have cramps badly before AF, so I'm worried that it's potentially ectopic and that I won't know until it ruptures! x

My periods are like yours - very heavy and lots of supplies required. I have at times been a day early we very little bleeding as a consequence. This has been when I haven't been trying to conceive.

I did think that an ectopic showed up on tests though? So if you were pregnant then you should know either way. Perhaps test again in a couple of days.

Thanks for the responses and finally today my period is getting heavier. Frustrating for my periods to be so out of whack. Especially when I’m trying to conceive. Maybe also stress caused it to be so light? We spent two days in the hospital with our DS only ages 4 and we only came back home last night and I finally felt relaxed again....which could explain why once I relaxed my period started to flow more normal?

@thatshabbychick I am sorry to hear that. Can you go to the doctors and get a scan? I wouldn’t wait until it ruptures to find out! I would explain to your GP and insist on a scan. If you insist on something here they usually do it! At least in my experience 😀 when I was younger I asked for a blood test to check my vitamin levels etc and the GP at first was trying to not do it and I said “I really want it checked as I have been feeling more tired then normal” and the GP agreed.

Good luck!
