First Response Tests- how early??

Hi. I'm 7 DPO I think (don't use OPK's, just go by hormone app and symptoms!).
Have been having cramping for the last couple of days and I don't think I normally get cramping at this time of my cycle. I have also felt the tiniest bit nauseous a couple of times too (could just be my usual hormones as I'm very sensitive to them anyway and get nausea with some anxiety usually too! 😩).
I'm the most impatient person on planet earth and I did two Boots early response tests at 3DPO 😂 I knew there was no way they'd be positive, but I still found myself taking them! 🙈
I haven't got anymore tests, so I'm trying to hold off from buying them, because I'll be so disappointed if it's negative after these symptoms- because I've convinced myself that I'm probably pregnant because of the cramps!
How early do you think I can realistically take a test? Are the First response ones actually accurate 6 days early? If they are, I'm guessing I could potentially try testing tomorrow (cycles day 22 of a 28 day cycle)?!?
I know it makes sense to hold off, but has anyone had success with early testing?!!

I tested at 10dpo and got a negative but got a positive at 12dpo. But I have seen some posters on here get a positive from 9dpo. Everyone is different and the levels of hormones in our bodies vary. Implantation and the release of hcg usually occurs anywhere between 6-12dpo. So you can try from 8 but you might be disappointed and it could get expensive peeing on sticks.

@MrsL2016 Thanks for your reply. Yes, it seems that everyone is different and get varying results. I did wonder if anybody had tested v.early and got a negative result and then gone on to get a positive a couple of days later. That's encouraging at least! They're so expensive aren't they?! I don't want to spend loads of money and keep seeing negative results, but I also don't think I can wait another full week until I test! 🙈 7DPO is probably too early for me to test, HCG levels may not be high enough to detect yet. This could be a very good test for my patience!!x

I tested with the cheap strips every day when I was TTC, because I had no patience! I saw a faint line on 8/9 dpo. But I also had digital tests for a more reliable result. So I did a clear blue digital test that afternoon (so obviously wasn't first pee of the day) and it was positive Smile

@nodramallama20 Oh wow! That's amazing. It must be so exciting to try and test early, in the off chance, to then get a positive result! I think I might buy a twin pack test today and do one tomorrow morning (8DPO) to ease my impatience! 😆Then if it's negative (which chances are it will be), I'll be really patient and not do the other test at about 11/12 DPO 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Try reeeeeally hard to not test at 8dpo!! It will be negative but frustratingly FRERs get these annoying indent lines so there's a good chance you'll scrutinise it for ages and convince yourself there's a line there then I can almost guarantee you'll test at 9dpo and be none the wiser. Speaking from experience lol.

This month I used the internet cheapies from 7dpo. Saw the faintest of lines at 9 and 10dpo then confirmed bfp with a FRER later that day on 10dpo :)

Good luck!

When I did the first test in the morning I didn't see anything. Left it on the bedside table and went off in a huff to get ready for work. Picked it up to put it in the bin and I noticed the faintest line, I thought I was imagining it because it's what I wanted to see. I ended up taking it to work with me and looking at it throughout the day and it did get darker.

I did have small cramps and bloating too, but again I thought I was imagining it!

It's a really exciting time to be testing but can be heart breaking to not see anything. Even though you know it's too early to test positive! Is this your first month TTC? I'll keep all my fingers and toes crossed for you Thanks

The first photo was when I noticed the faint line (god knows how I saw it, I can't see it now!) and the second was in work. I looked at the time stamps on the photos and they were taken 3 hours apart!

@8DaysAWeek Thank you for the advice. Maybe I should try to be patient for the first time in my life!! I'm just convinced that I could be pregnant already, I'm reallly trying not to get my hopes up, but if I get a negative or AF arrives I know I will be upset. I've got PCOS, so if the cramping isn't implantation, it's very likely it's just been a cyst cycle, which would suck!!
Anyway, I will try my best to hold off and save me some money on unnecessary tests!x

As I said I've been there, so I 100% understand if you cave and test tomorrow! Why does all normal reasoning and sense go out the window when we are TTC??

MrsL2016 · 26/08/2018 09:17

The urge to test is so strong. Even after my positive I couldn't stop for about a week. Internet cheapies are your friend in this situation as they get it out of your system without costing the earth. They are quite sensitive too in my experience, but you can't beat a FRER and then a clear blue that says the word Pregnant!

thatshabbychick · 26/08/2018 14:15

@MrsL2016 Yes it's like a having a present right in front of you, that you're not allowed to open yet!! 🙈 SO hard! Good things come to those so wait! I have to keep telling myself that!x

@8DaysAWeek TTC definitely makes the most rational people, totally irrational! It's just such and emotion filled time! x
