High estrogen levels but low number of follicles

Hi All,

Just wanted to see how common this was really!

Im on day 7 of stims and have my egg collection booked on Monday 24th. I had a scan today and seem to have 3 follicles (2 x 18mm and 1 x 15mm) on my right ovary and apparently my left ovary is very difficult to see so they think there may be 1 follicle on that one. Pretty low numbers I know - this is my 3rd cycle and I have only ever collected 2 eggs on each so I'm not suprised! However, I've been reading other stories and my estrogen level seems quite high in comparison to the low number of eggs - it is 4680 today.

Has anyone else had this? If so what was the outcome? :)

Hi op, is that high? I don't mean to sound goady, but I thought 'high' levels started at 15000. I'm taking my trigger shot tonight and am at estrogen levels of 19000. Which is definitely too high so have to have a freeze all cycle. Remember that they only need one egg, and they monitor your blood results so if they think it's fine you should be ok. Maybe call your nurse in case your concerned?

Hi CatRen27- yeah sorry, should have been more specific. It's not high generally, just on the high side for the 3 follicles I have. Was your retrieval today? Mine's tomorrow morning! Good luck x

How did it go? Glad you were feeling better. Yes I'm on my way to the hospital now - looking forward to getting it out of the way, hoping for 2 eggs to be collected, more if I'm lucky! Anything we get will be frozen for later use! Hope you are resting up! X

Hey, they got 18 eggs, so I'm pretty happy with that. Feeling a bit sore now but recovering alright. Good luck today! Let me know how you get on!

CatRen27 I got 3 and 2 have been fertilised, so thats the same as cycle 1 and 2! Got to wait until Thursday now! How did yours get on? x

Oh great! That's amazing to get 2/3 fertilized. We had 12 of 18 fertilized and they're watching 3 more. Not sure what that means! So when will you have your transfer? So exciting!

Thank you - we are freezing whatever we get - hopefully 2 blasts! Oh wow thats a great number too! When will day 3 be for you? Do you hope for a Day 5 transfer?

Hey Hope, have you had any news today about your embryos today?

I heard back from the embryologist today (day 3), and we had 15 fertilised eggs after all - the original 12 plus the 3 they were watching. 9 of them are developing normally. Yay! The remaining 6 are developing too quickly, so while they're not complete duds, they're not the highest quality. So we'll wait and see what the numbers are on Saturday, but assume they'll have dropped to a lower number. We're doing a freeze all cycle too, so will transfer next month with a natural FET cycle. Fingers crossed we get a couple of good ones

We just had our 3 day call -both are doing well! We have a 7 and 10 cell. So hopefully they will hang on to be frozen over the weekend!

Hello! Ooh fab! Well done you. Will you then do a natural cycle and pop it in when you ovulate? How are you feeling?

I ended up with.. err.. 10 blasts in the freezer (😬), we couldn't believe our luck. No idea what their grades were but they're all being pgd tested now so we're waiting for results in the next 2 weeks or so. I got my period a week after my trigger so not sure if the results will be back before I ovulate. Would be annoying to have to wait another month but might have to! Gah. Hopefully we get a good few that aren't chromosomal duds so i won't have to do the ivf phase again. 🤞🤞
