Accupuncture

Just had my first session of accupuncture for fertility. It was great; felt a bit like a therapy session! my friend recommended this lady because she's helped 10 of her friends conceive! anyway, I'm cycle day 9 now, seeing her again next week on cycle day 16. Who knows! It helped my stress levels if nothing else! Anyone else had a good experience with this?

I'm fairly convinced it's the reason my ivf cycle worked... too intense while pregnant for me though!!

LillyLeaf · 23/08/2018 21:50

I have my first session in a few weeks, I'm quite excited. Is it recommended to have it done on any particular day of your cycle?

physicskate · 23/08/2018 22:00

Nope. I went once a week, twice a week or daily (leading up to egg collection).

HollyBollyBooBoo · 23/08/2018 22:06

I'm convinced she made all the difference to me conceiving, a massive believer here!

I went as part of my treatment. I felt it helped me but it was lots of things such as mental health, relax, talk to someone I trusted. Good luck with your journey

Prembabymum · 24/08/2018 07:38

Great to hear this! I found the talking part really helpful too. She was really astute and found that I'm low on blood and also anaemic; this explains a lot! I've been taking iron for some time but don't think my body has been absorbing it properly. It also explains my fatigue and dizziness, as well as why it's very hard to get a blood sample out of me. Even if nothing happens I can see that it will probably be very beneficial to my mental health. Good luck everyone!

Pretty sure I ovulated yesterday on cd14; I always get pain/cramping. I'm seeing the acupuncturist on Friday at lunchtime to help with implantion; and keep me calm prob! I feel nauseus but I always do at this time in my cycle so it's not a symptom (too early anyway I know!) Just a waiting game now; sigh!
She's said to keep exercise to a minimum and only gentle movements with no twists. I'm usually a heavy weightlifter so this is a bit of a shift. Because of my last pregnancy (baby came at 29 weeks) I've been advised not to exercise during anyway so I'll need to just get used to it. Still cycling and jogging but not big distances and not fast. Fingers crossed this is the month!

@Prembabymum Congratulations! That's great news. I'm thinking about giving acupuncture a go. What symptoms (if any) have you had during this TWW?

Prembabymum · 07/09/2018 16:10

Loads but to be honest I often get loads of weird symptoms! This the two things that were new were being really thirsty and getting these weird bubbles/flutters in my abdomen from 3dpo. I also have a very low resting heart rate of 49bpm but it went up to 63 by 8dpo so that was another sign. How far along are you this cycle?

I think I'm around 5 or 6dpo. I haven't tracked BBT this cycle as I'm trying a more relaxed approach. I'm symptom spotting like crazy - as usual! We've been TTC#2 for 19 months now so I'm willing to try anything! I've heard loads of positive things about acupuncture so I'm definitely going to look into that.

Prembabymum · 07/09/2018 16:19

I highly recommed it; makes you feel really relaxed. I'm not usual someone who rates alternative medicine but hey, if it works it works! Fingers x!! Xx
