THE PILL PRE-TTC - advice please ladies!

Hello Ladies.

My Fiancé and I are due to get married next year, after which we are keen to start trying for a baby. I know that many ladies can find conceiving difficult after coming off the pill, so I am looking to try and lessen the blow of this.

I can’t risk coming off the pill yet as I don’t want to be pregnant for my wedding! However, I have considered switching from the combined pill (microgynon) to the mini-pill as that doesn’t have such a affect on your ovulation pattern. Does anyone have any advise on this? I’m sure the mini-pill is less strong and quicker to get out of your system?

Nb: Neither my partner or I enjoy using condoms, hence I haven’t considered them as an option.

Everyone is different. I came off my pill and was pregnant within 5 months.

I had Microgynon I think? Before then I had a Mirena coil. And before then I'd spent 10 years on various pills. So alot of hormones really.

All of the women in my family are v fertile however. And OH and I went on holiday where much alcohol was flowing and we were dtd every day, during an ovulation week.

So, like I say, everyone's body reacts differently. I wouldn't think you need to juggle around different contraception. It might confuse your body more?

The only contraception I had problems with was the injection. I only had one shot of it after I gave birth and decided it wasn't for me (hate hormonal contraception, makes me depressed). Took 6 months for my cycles to return to normal!!! I was getting a period every 2 weeks. Not a compatible contraception with my body apparently 😂

Yeah everyone is definitely different! I switched to the mini pill from the combined and it took a few months to get back to normal, we have been TTC for 6 months and no luck, but I've heard of people getting pregnant straight away when they stop so! I'd definitely recommend coming off the pill just a month or 2 in advance to help you get that little head start 😊 good luck and congrats on getting married x
