HCG Level Query. Help!

Hi

I'm now "12days" late according to the flo app I have been using. I had a urine test done to check my HCG levels on Thursday and they come back as 6. Whenever I have had them checked before (every 6 months because of previous molar pregnancy) they come back as below 5. They have said they don't need to be retested. However I have been looking online and this says different. Anything above 6 is positive and needs to be retested to see if they have doubled?

I have now spoken with my Dr and she is sending me for a blood test in the morning to see what my HCG levels are now.

Has anyone else been in this position and been pregnant?

My doctors class above 5 as pregnant so it might be that you are, hopefully your bloods come back with more! When will u get results.

KaidensMum12 · 21/08/2018 21:38

@leanne9312 I should get the results tomorrow afternoon fingers crossed. The results I received today come from Charing Cross hospital so on one hand I should think they know what they talking about but on the other hand I have read and researched that anything above 5 is positive. So I'm really confused. I guess il have to wait to see what the blood tests comes back as.

I was told at my fertility clinic that at 14 days after egg collection (basically 14 dpo) anything above 80 is a positive... ?

How closely do you track ovulation?

KaidensMum12 · 21/08/2018 22:05

@physicskate I just go by what the flo app tells me? Which is between day 12-14. I could of ovulated later hence the "late period" and low HCG level?

I'd say it's likely you did ovulate later... hcg would be 6 about 2ish days after implantation, which happens 6-12 dpo. That makes you roughly 8-14 dpo (assuming hcg levels rising normally).

KaidensMum12 · 21/08/2018 22:23

@physicskate sorry I'm quite new to this so what does dpo stand for?

@physicskate days past ovulation? So if I am pregnant how far along would I be if HCG was 6 on Thursday? I last did a pregnancy test on Sunday and that was negative would that be possible?

Hcg was 6 on Thursday - 7 days ago? That makes you 15-21 days past ovulation (dpo).

6 a week ago means you level should have been around 15 or so on Sunday. Many tests don't detect hcg levels that low...

What's the plan? You bloods ideally need repeating every 48 hours to give an indication of what's happening. Hcg levels should double in 48 hours in early pregnancy.

I was also unaware you could get an actual hcg readings from urine. It's far more usual to get that from blood tests...??

I'd also take another hpt - your levels really ought to be high enough for almost any test (maybe not some digitals which are not sensitive at all).
