List of things that help when TTC

Just thought it might be a good idea to get a list going of good things to take/do etc when ttc - what vits people have been told to take, what food to eat at certaing times etc.
I'm sure there must be something like that on here already but won't do any harm to do another one as I'm sure those who have been TTC for a while will have lots to add and it will really help those who are new to ttc like me.

All I can add is taking vits - me and DH -and eating all organic food, not drinking to much etc. But that's quite boring and I'm sure there must be other more interesting stuff?!

I suffered a miscarriage and my periods didn't return for over 6 months which was very stressful. I had acupuncture and started taking vitamin B and zinc. I also took Milk Thistle to clear my liver of excess oestrogen. I then joined the Oxford Conception study and was supplied with an ovulation prediction kit as well as having to write down every time we had sex, amount of alcohol drunk, cigarettes smoked (although don't smoke). I found that this really concentrated my mind and enabled me to accurately see optimal time to have sex (I know this sounds very boring but frankly we all know that there is that time during the month when you can conceive).

Chinese fertility herb sounds interesting!
You didn't have twins did you?

I agree about the very painful periods and looking into causes.

I have pelvic congestion syndrome, which was picked up on laparoscopy after me wanting to know why I was doubled up with the pain.

Detoxing for two years?!
There's no hope for me.

kensgirl · 07/06/2007 17:32

2 years???

I struggle with 2 days... With you on that one Pinkmartini.

Has anyone experienced using an ovulation kit and not getting a proper reading? I've tried one this month - very clearly nothing happening for the first couple of days then got a faint line where in the positive bit but it never got darker than the control line and now it's disappeared again. I know you're going to say I need to try a couple of months but wondered if anybody else had had this experience?

Janus · 07/06/2007 19:31

Redbush, I'm using the clearblue fertility monitor which tells you when you are ov and for the first time it seems I have not ov this month. I have used this in the past though and always got a day when I had ov so just putting this month down to a 'funny' month (which is quite normal, every so often women just have a month like this). I'm sure you're the same, just thought I'd tell you to put your mind at rest!

Redbush · 07/06/2007 20:08

Thanks Janus that's good to know!

Read 'Taking charge of your fertility' by Toni Weschler. She goes into charting etc in great detail and you really learn to understand your own cycle.

After a year and a half of trying, I conceived on a day when I had 'egg white' consistency cervical fluid (apologies to the squeamish). I'm currently pregnant with no.2 (age 40) and again it was an 'egg white' day, even though very early in my cycle (we weren't planning to have another one just yet, but thought we'd risk it and, whoops!)

Big hug to anyone who's desperately hoping against hope each month.

Hi everyone

I too am TTC!

Am interested in reflexology to see if it would help... anyone a good reflexologist in North West (pref. Liverpool area?)

Taa for any pointers.....

manuka · 07/06/2007 22:09

I am a huge believer in accupuncture and reflexology after conceiving with no periods!! Definitely recommend both of those treatments.

munchkinmum · 07/06/2007 22:12

Wow Manuka. Thats amazing...... Will deffo look into this...

manuka · 08/06/2007 14:47

What I found amazing was that this woman said if your feet are swollen under the ankle, right on the edge of the foot, on the inside then that shows something going on in womb area. so I looked at mine and they were swollen in that area so she said that's showing a problem with my fertility. So had the reflexology and accupuncture,(also saw a brilliant healer woman) the swelling went and I got pregnant!
Then it came back with pregnancy which is normal and now its back again and my periods are mad again but not bothered this time! One's enough for lazy old me!!!
