Tracking temperature

Hi, have searched within the app and nothing seems to be coming up that answers my question - apologies if I've missed a thread that covers this!

My question is to those who have tracked or are tracking their temperature: how much does your temperature fluctuate day to day?

I've started tracking this month, on a 2 decimal point thermometer, after using OPK's for TTC first couple of months. Currently on my period if that makes any difference. Only logged three days so far but it feels like my temperature is jumping about a bit despite logging as soon as my alarm goes off, at the same time, each day.

I know that I'll have to log more to really see a pattern but wondering just how much it can fluctuate!

Thanks in advance!

Mine fluctuates quite a lot (fertility friend app tells me more than usual). I take it at pretty much the same time every day and always put the thermometer in the same place, don't talk or move too much etc.

As long as you can see a generally biphasic pattern (the low pre o to high post o) temperature shift I think it's fine. It'll never look textbook. If you are interested in looking at other people's charts to see how yours compare you can do that on the fertility friends app or have a look on the TFAB chart stalkers subreddit.

Mine fluctuates more when I'm on my period than any other time of the month so it may settle when it's over

Both, thanks very much for confirming. I won't worry too much about it changing just now then!

Good shout 're the comparison charts too, I'm using Ovia just now and don't think it has that capability but will have a look at that other page!

Here is a picture of the overlay of my last few charts. As you can see the temps fluctuate day to day but the overall pattern is what counts! It can sometimes take a while for the pattern to become apparent! Good luck x

Thanks Daisy 😊 I like the way that your FF chart overlays months, so have just downloaded it to use in conjunction with Ovia (which I find easier to use for the rest of the tracking).

Never in my pre-conception life did I realise that it was so technical, actually TTC opens your eyes!

Good luck to you all too! x

Mine seems to fluctuate. I tend to stick the themometer in my mouth as soon as I’m awake. Haven’t used an alarm because of holidays. Last month was up and down but seems smoother this month.
Does anyone over stress about their temps? Right now I see it’s going down and I want it to stay up 😂

I've obviously only started charting it but I have been stressing slightly, despite trying not to!

Mine has been jumping around all over the place then it dropped two days ago, quite significantly, so thought I was in for an early ovulation and would see it jump up but OPK's not showing anything yet and temp still a fair bit lower than last week.

Guess it's a bit of trial and error until you have a bit more data to go on, but frustrating while we wait!!

Nice temps smiley! Yep I totally stress over them! But when you get a nice graph that confirms O it makes it worth it :)

I started temping a couple of weeks ago and I've been wondering the same things! Mine rose on CD26 and 27 (I'm on a 33-35 day cycle) but the last couple of days it's going down. I've heard if you're pregnant it tends to stay up. But I'm not sure in the two rises we're due to me taking my temp at a different time because it was the weekend. Would that make a difference?
This is my chart for the last 10 days

I'm not even sure it shows ovulation properly on that chart! Hoping next cycle (if I haven't caught this time) will be easier to understand!
