Coming off the pill

Hey everyone, I came off the pill over a month ago and no sign of period yet, is it too soon to take a pregnancy test? And if it’s negative should I be worried about the lack of a period? I know it can take time but friends of mine got straight back into their cycles after coming off the pill and as a (relatively) young person I thought my experience would be similar xxx

Everyone is different so I wouldn't worry if it hasn't turned up yet. But if you've been having sex since you stopped then you could well be pregnant ! So no harm in testing

Get some cheap tests and give it a go. There's lots of stories of people getting pregnant after coming or contraception without a period.
But also everyone is different, my sister and I had our implants out at the same time. She had her period a week later. I didn't get mine for 12 weeks Shock it's crap but it should sort itself eventually. Not great news. I'm TTC and it killed me waiting 3 months for it.

Hey

I came off the pill at the end of June and I'm still currently waiting for my period to kick in. It's very frustrating especially as some fall back into their cycle straight away and others seem to take time. I would recommend doing a test just to be sure you aren't pregnant. I've been doing one every two weeks or so just to be sure myself.

Hi there,

I came of the pill end of April or early May after being on it for 12 years and I've only had one period since at the end of July. I've been incredibly spotty since, like proper acne and i was never really spotty before going on the pill. Anyone else suffering with this?

I’ve not had any skin related side effects yet but am anticipating them as lots of my friends have had these problems when coming off the pill. As far as I’m aware it’s extremely normal and should hopefully subside when hormone levels sort themselves out!

I think it’s completely individual. I didn’t have a withdrawal bleed after coming off the pill but ovulated after a couple of weeks (as if my last pill was the first day of my period) and period came 10 days after that. Almost clockwork as if I’d never taken the pill.

I’ve had no other effects such as spots or sore boobs or mood swings etc that others report after few finishing hormonal contraception.

Others report waiting months and months for a period and then having to wait longer for them to regulate. I think anything in that range is considered normal and wouldn’t worry, even though it must be very frustrating!

I thought when I stopped taking the pill last year I would go back to regular straight away but actually it took me 3 months before I got my first one and it took 6 months for them to regulate and me to start ovulating. Everyone is different & I know how hard it is waiting for something to happen but just try to be patient and hopefully they will start up soon x
