Drinking whilst TTC

Not sure what to do! Only on second month of TTC- didn’t drink in cycle 1 and was obviously pointless! Got a family holiday next week and not sure what to do. Don’t want to tell everyone that we’re trying and it will be noticeable if I’m not drinking. At the same time, don’t want to risk anything!

Advice please!

Drink TIL it's pink. Even if you were to get pregnant, you'd get a positive test before drinking would do any harm. Hopefully not, but ttc can take awhile too (took me over two years).

It’s up to you. Plenty of people drink and still get pregnant. I chose to drink moderately in the first two weeks but avoid it in the second half of my cycle.

I had that problem last cycle, family visiting and then dinner with friends and didnt want to raise suspicions. I had a couple of glasses of wine with food and stretched the glasses out over the night. From what I've read, a little won't do any damage.

I'd drink but moderately. One or two a night. In general I try and keep alcohol low throughout my cycle but holidays, special occasions, Fridays ... you have to keep living

NICE guidelines recommend 1/2 units 1-2 times per week.

I stuck with that after I'd ovulated, before ovulation I just stuck to the recommended

hoping2018 · 16/08/2018 08:43

1 to 2 units that is. Not 1/2 a unit

Took me two years to conceive so I researched this a lot!!

Thank you all. I won’t feel terribly guilty about a glass of wine at dinner then!

Enjoy yourself! I love the advice drink TIL it’s pink!! Until the placenta takes over giving nutrients and blood to the baby it can’t cause any harm, that comes much later once you’ve already found out. X

I am on holiday and I am drinking. Trying not to have more than 3 drinks a night and of course will stop if I get pregnant but my grandparents generation drank throughout pregnancy and they had healthy children so I think a few drinks in the tww is unlikely to cause problems.
