TTC and Levothyroxine

Hi all. I’m looking for a little advice to try and keep me sane! I’ve recently had 2 miscarriages back to back. My gynaecologist put me on 25mcg of Levothyroxine as my TSH was a little high. I’ve only been taking the medication for 2 weeks. I’m as sure as I can be that I ovulated this month as I took the test and my husband and I did the deed on my fertile days. My period is now 3 days late. My cycle is usually very reliable at 26 days. Occasionally my period is early, but never late. However, I’ve had 2 negative preg tests. One today and one on the day my period was due. I know I just need to wait and retest in a few days if still no period, but has anyone heard of Levothyroxine making periods late? All the literature i’ve found suggests it does the opposite. I so want to be pregnant, but don’t want to get my hopes up. Xx

Such a low dose is highly unlikely to affect you cycle length, especially as if you were going to have a normal cycle, you would have ovulated at the time you started taking it. I mean, anything's possible. It could have been the heat too.

Yes, true. I really don’t think it’s due to the meds. But it’s weird that the pregnancy test is coming up negative. I just need to wait......but the not knowing is the hardest bit! The worst of the heat was before I ovulated, do I can’t really think of a good reason why this cycle would be longer. Nothing is simple eh!?

Do you track ovulation? I'm sure you know that if you ov late af will also be late by the same number of days?

No it won't make your period late.
