Negative tests, no period...

Hello!

We're TTC at the moment. I was due on Friday last week, no sign of it, no period pains etc. I've done three tests and all have come back negative 😔

It's the first time in my life I've ever been late on a period so had high hopes!

I just wondered if anybody had experienced this? Maybe it's too soon for a test to pick up, maybe the tests I'm using are crap (pound shop ones), or maybe my body is just playing a cruel trick on me.

Any advice?

I'd have thought if you're more than a week late a test would pick it up, but if it's cheap tests maybe try a better one ? First response are the best.

Are your cycles regular ? Maybe a longer cycle this month ? It's so frustrating isn't it. Sometimes when you're stressing it can delay your period too .

Thank you for replying ❤️ My periods are usually very regular, I’ve never been late on before so I had built up a lot of hope.

I think if I haven’t come on by the weekend, I’ll try a first response test and see if that tells me a different story. I suppose it’s only tomorrow when it’s a week late, so maybe it needs some time.

Fingers crossed x

Hi @tokenginger I've just got to a similar situation. How are you, any af or bfp yet?

physicskate · 12/08/2018 19:54

Late ovulation would cause a late period. Time between ov and the start of af is generally the same, so late ov = late af.

Very common - several threads a day on the same thing. Any change can cause this, stress, diet, weather (heatwave?).

This was is why women try to pinpoint ovulation so they can work out when af will be late. They use symptoms, opks and bbt.

Or may ovulate late and still get pregnant (provided you had sex around the) but you wouldn't get a positive test until later.
