Coming off the mini pill... side effects?

Hi everyone. Complete newbie so apologies if I’ve posted this in the wrong place!

I am coming off the mini pill (cerazette) and can’t find any experiences similar to mine so I was hoping some of you ladies would have some words of wisdom?!

I am coming off for various reasons - yes, want to start trying for a BFP soon but not til Christmas I think. Also, I have put on a stack of weight and can’t lose it despite restricting calories and exercising, I have the most awful demon mood swings for a week at a time, and I bleed so often, more often than not :-(
Sorry to be graphic, but when I do bleed (over a week at a time) it starts and finishes for sometimes days, with what I can only describe as “guggy” brown sticky stringy gross stuff.

So because of the way it doesn’t suit my body, I am done!

I wonder about anyone else that bled a lot on cerazette, when did you stop taking it? Whilst you were bleeding or once you’d stopped? Did you bleed for a long time after?

I know I need to stop taking it but I don’t want to have months of bleeding as it messes with your life... 😔

Any thoughts / advice much appreciated! Thank you all

You can stop taking it at any point.

You can stop it at any time. I came off mine and got pregnant the next month so didn't take long at all

Thanks for the replies. Did any of you bleed a lot when you were on it though? I shouldn’t try to second guess but I am worried that if I stop when I’m bleeding already the bleeding will go on for ages / if I stop when I’m not bleeding will cause a long bleed.

The only way to know what will happen is to try. Anyone else's experience on this one might be hugely different from yours because your body is unique and different from anyone else's.

I used to get some spotting when I was on it but nothing major but like physicskate has said all our bodies react differently

Just in case any worried ladies come across this post in future whilst desperately looking for answers, I thought I’d give an update!

I stopped taking my pill on 10th August, and I thought I had ovulated around 19th. I was really surprised that things seemed to have gone back to normal so quickly, so I wasn’t convinced that i was actually ovulating!!

Anyway, I calculated that if it was ovulation, I should start my first pill free period on 2nd September (14 days later) ... and hey presto! Aunt Flo stopped by today :)

I’m so happy to be “normal” so quickly after stopping as I thought I would bleed for weeks and that it would take months to ovulate!! 😁
