TTC Fertility treatment- what to expect?

Hi everyone!

My wife and I are now on the waiting list to attend Aberdeen fertility clinic and we've no idea what to expect.
I'll hopefully be the one carrying our baby but after an awful experience having a smear test I'm extremely paranoid and fearful about the tests which will be carried out, can anyone please advise me what will be done? or just for a chat really? some advice and words of encouragement.

Thanks in advance :)

Katy.

Bloods and an internal ultrasound usually. You lose all dignity as you'll have numerous strangers looking at your lady bits... good preparation for birth and parenthood methinks!

Do you have any diagnosed fertility issues?

Hi physicskate,

No I don't (I'm hoping) it's the waiting game to have our first appointment.

In that case they will likely suggest IUI (intra-uterine-insemination) where they insert sperm into the uterus using a catheter around the time of ovulation (in some cases they trigger ovulation with an injection).

Really your care after the initial bloods and ultrasound will depend on what they find (or don't find) and the preferences of the doctor. So it's difficult to speculate as to what path your treatment will take.

Yeah that's true! I know my dignity will be gone I'm just really freaked out after yesterday! Hmm
I hope it will be straight forward and not as daughting as I'm thinking.
Thank ok so much.
