Stupid ovulation question

Either my Clearblue flashing smiley is playing tricks on me or some weird shit is happening

TTC #3.
LMP 9 July
Typical cycle is 31 days
Clearblue flashed away for days and days
Yesterday I got the static smiley (=ovulation)
DTD yesterday eve
Today: PERIOD.

It’s CD29 so not a randomly placed period but can you ovulate one day and literally have your period the next?

Have googled but there’s so much badly worded shit on there I need the experiences of normal people

Did you test the whole way through your cycle? What CD did it start flashing on?

2ManySweets · 06/08/2018 22:04

Yep! As recommended by the instructions (always read the instructions) I tested starting CD11. Flashing started around CD13. Day before yesterday I’m thinking “FUCK am I the age now where I don’t ovulate every month” and pop! static smiley.

I am so confused and also embarrassed as I feel I should know my biology better Blush

So you had about 17 days of flashing smilies? I think the instructions say to give up after 10? So I would possibly ignore the solid smiley... think it might be an odd cycle.

Have another go next month (I use the cheap internet ones every day and then just the clearblue ones in the middle). I think if it happens again, I would see your doctor. Xx

I do suspect you’re right; I also don’t think this could at all be implantation bleeding either is it’s very - erm - splatty.

I need to read the instructions again; I don’t recall the 10 day thing Blush

I've read that implantation bleeding isn't really a thing anyway so I would imagine it is a proper period. I'm sorry you haven't got pregnant this month :( I know how insanely frustrating it is. I'm on CD18 and no ovulation yet. It seems to be all over the place and I am sure there is an issue but I am trying to keep calm about it all because I know stress doesn't help.

It's really common for people to get an lh surge just before af. Sometimes they just don't pick up the surge right before ov. It doesn't mean you didn't ovulate this cycle. Try tracking your bbt.

sunshine1987 · 06/08/2018 22:22

The tests say if you see more than 9 smiling flashy faces that they recommend you stop testing for that cycle x

2ManySweets · 06/08/2018 22:25

Ach, yes I’ve just re read the instructions and feel like a right plum now.

You guys have been lovely though.

Can get back to being a big sweaty unsexy mess for two weeks now Grin

@2ManySweets definitely don't feel like a plum lol, it's stressful TTC at best of times x

Funkyemzie · 07/08/2018 00:57

Yeah I've done that before, used an ic OPK instead of an ic hpt the day before af and nearly hit the bloody deck with the strength of the line. I then realised what had happened!

ratbaggy · 07/08/2018 06:28

Testing from CD11 may be too late. I ovulate on CD 8/9 and my cycles are 29/31 days.

2ManySweets · 07/08/2018 10:59

It’s what the instructions recommend @ratbaggy

Plus I do think I’m a late ovulator, my sisters have similar

Newbie21 · 07/08/2018 20:18

@2ManySweets is it a proper bleed - AF style?

Maybe try testing a few days early next month just to be sure you don't miss it and test a couple of times a day maybe.

2ManySweets · 07/08/2018 22:56

Oh god yes @newbie21 the super plus are out in force.

I think I will follow kind advice and perhaps start on CD8 or something next month (as I really want next month to be the month, eh)
