Help with OPK tests

Hi all, looking for some help from experienced TTCers. This is the third month TTC. Been tracking my cycles since March and they’ve been between 27-30 days, two were 28 days. I use Flo and that’s telling me today should be my ovulation day. I bought some OPK test strips and used them every day except yesterday and each one has the same result. A line, but it’s not as dark as the test line. It’s the same strength in colour every day! That’s 5 days now that it’s not changed or got any darker. What do you think this means? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks x

Try tracking your bbt. Apps aren't plugged into your body and are only as good as the data you put into it.

Opks should be taken every day and many people do the cheap brands twice a day. It's normal for there to be lutenising hormone (what opks test for) in your system all the time. Some people just also don't get on with opks, which doesn't mean you aren't ovulating, per day.

Gr autocorrect. Per say.

Thank you for your reply. Is it too late for me to start tracking my temp this month?

I've been using the boots OPK tests every morning for 5 days, apart from yesterday. I thought every day they might get a bit darker. Can it happen that one day it's a faint line and the next it's a dark line?

Why don't you use the digital opk to start so you understand when you ovulate each month. Clear blue gives you a flashing smiley face when your levels are rising and then a solid smiley face when you have a peak surge, this means you will ovulate in the next 24 hrs.

I find the app only gives your expected ovulation, for example my app said I should ovulate last Saturday but I got a solid smiley face last Tuesday evening so I probably ovulated Wednesday/Thursday.

How many days since your last period?

My last period ended 9 days ago. I'm on cd14. It's too late this month to use the digital OPK isn't it? Does one digital test last the whole month? I'm new to this. Thanks

These are my tests. Done first thing in morning, from right to left. Days 10, 11, 12, 14, 15. What are people's thoughts? Could I still ovulate or have I missed the boat. Or could I just not be ovulating at all? AF due in 14 days, and is normally totally in sync with Flo app.

Those are pretty faint. Not almost positive at all. Yes you could still ovulate.

I never used the digitalis so can't comment.

It is a bit of trial and error and you'll just have to see how your body works and how opks work for you (or not). If you don't detect the surge (it can be very easy to miss) try opks twice a day and tracking your bbt for next month.

It is a big learning curve but knowledge is both huge power and a sense of frustration when ttc. There are books and websites out there that you might find useful to learn more.

I'm CD19 and still my strips look like yours. I do tend to ovulate later (although previously only as late as CD19...) so you could easily get positive strips in the next few days.

Thanks ladies, you're so helpful x

Try testing later in the day (or twice a day if you’re using cheapies!)
If you only test first thing you may miss the surge.
