POAS too early? / OPKs worth trying?

TTC since January and so far I've only been using an app to track my cycle so that I have an idea of my fertile window. Haven't tried OPKs so far as have heard mixed things and I worried I would get a bit obsessed...now wondering if they are worth using and if so are the internet cheapies any good? Clear blue seem quite pricey but that doesn't bother me if they are easy to use and will help!

Never sure when to POAS each month, I know I should wait until I miss a period but I prefer to prepare for the disappointment if that makes sense. Negative test today on day 28, cycle is on average 30 days but can range from 28-33 so I don't know if I'm definitely out this month or there is still a chance? Advice welcomed!

I'm like you, I like to test early and keep testing so I don't have my hopes all pinned on one test.

When I've TTC I've usually POAS every day from 8dpo. Silly i know. My BFPs have all appeared on around 11-12dpo. Had a very faint one on 10dpo this pregnancy.

good luck

Thanks GreenMeerkat and congratulations on your pregnancy. Did you use OPKs?

TTC is just a minefield, I had 2 mcs before having my daughter and fell pregnant pretty quickly each time. Last year I unexpectedly got pregnant on contraception which turned out to be an ectopic. It's been a big step to try for a second as I am worried about further mc/ep. I naively thought I would fall pregnant quickly like before though.

I've used the internet cheapies and theyve worked fine for me. Takes a bit of getting used to in the fact that once you are expecting a positive opk you need to start testing twice a day so that you don't miss the surge. Some women surge in the afternoon, others in the evening, some surges last 2 days... It can take a couple of months before you see a pattern, but that doesn't mean you won't catch it easily first month trying.

I didn't use opks last month and I hates not being able to pinpoint ovulation and not knowing when to test or if the bfn was significant or not. So I'm back to opks and temping this month haha. Started using the CB digitals this month too so no useful experience with them yet.

I've literally taken hundreds of cheapie opks so any issues with them let me know and I'll try help!

I used OPKs yes but I think that was more to feed my POAS addiction Hmm. I have painful ovulation so I know exactly when it is each month as I get a sharp reminder!

Thanks I think I will give them a go. Still no AF but negative tests so I'm expecting it any time now. I get quite a lot of pain around ovulation time too but only on the side where the ectopic was.

I would try them, I just used cheapies off eBay last time and they worked fine ! I luckily conceived first month trying.

I've got them again this time round, have just started using them to try and track my cycle but not actively TTC yet . Good luck !

Does this look like a positive opk (bottom one)? The one at the top is a few days ago for comparison, not sure how dark the line should be.
