BBT rise before ovulation?

Twiglet2353 · 01/08/2018 07:45

Would anyone be kind enough to look at my BBT chart please? I have a history of anovulatory cycles so this month I'm tempting prior to my bloods to see if I can notice a pattern.

Positive OPK this morning so it's strange that I've had my highest recorded temp so far?
I should note I'm a shift worker so the timings of the temps aren't consistent but are always done after my longest block of sleep

TIA x

Tricky one to tell, once your OPKs stop being positive your temps should then stay high. Once they've stayed consistently up for 3 days FF should put some crosshairs in to show that it believes you've ovulated. They will still fluctuate a little but you should hopefully see the difference between the first half of your chart. Attached mine for info.

Thanks @CookieWaffle. FF had put some dashed crosshairs in for CD 17, but now I've had a +be OPK it came up with a message saying it can't analyse my chart.

Thanks for adding yours to compare - Are you charting on Ovia?

Sorry pressed send before I wanted to. I meant to say I'm charting on Ovia as well and they have different days for my suspected ovulation prior to today's +ve OPK. My cycles are pretty irregular so even though I've chatted for a year every month is different and doesn't fit any of the apps suggestions x

It sounds a bit gross, but I'd recommend you temp vaginally. That should help your chart not be so spiky.

@physicskate Sorry thought I'd added into first post that I actually switched to vaginal temping on CD15 to see if it would stabilise them a bit. Do you think that's why it looks like a marked temp rise? Do I just need to write this cycle off completely because of me switching half way through?

As the previous responder said, it's just the pattern of low before ov and high after that you're looking for. See if that happens after the positive opk...

CookieWaffle · 01/08/2018 13:19

@Twiglet2353 I've not used ovia but various others, have been trying to stick to FF tho. As above its all about the pattern of temps before and after. If your temp now stays up high til your AF due date there's a good chance you've ovulated. It will dip back down when/if AF rocks up. You can have blood tests to confirm also but that might be tricky with irregular cycles.

Thank you both for your responses. I am having my progesterone levels done again this month so will know a quantifiable number, just sometimes I wonder if I ovulate some cycles but have low progesterone (v short luteal phase), or if I'm not ovulating at all, so was hoping to confirm either way with temping this time. I'll keep a watch at my temp over the next few days x
