Hey guys!

Have no idea if I’m posting in the right place but I’m driving myself crazy!

Had a coil in for 3 Year’s and it dislodged in March, I was put on the mini pill after this and was s**t at taking it.

Got myself the Flo App and it’s great! Haven’t missed my pill in around 2 months now.... however had a major 2 week period at the beginning of June and then nothing for nearly 6 weeks now and I’m driving myself crazy! Did a test 2 weeks ago and -ve put still no period??

Has anyone got pregnant on the mini pill?? What were your symptoms?

Which mini pill is it? I had no periods for several years when I took cerazette

bellyflabby · 30/07/2018 18:34

I don't get a period either on cerazette, I had some bleeding the first week I started it, but nothing since, I've been on it over a year now.

Flossy04 · 30/07/2018 18:35

Yeah I’m on cerazette, haven’t been on this before but I know a few people who do get periods and a few that don’t 😥

I'm on Zelletta (which is similar to Cezarette, I think) and haven't had a period from the first day I started taking it, about 9 months ago. Now I know what's causing it, it's a real blessing - I'd been spotting every day/bleeding after sex (sorry if TMI) for a long time thanks to cervical ectropion which was brought on by using the combined pill, and switching to the mini pill cleared that up entirely - but I wasn't expecting it either, and after a couple of missed period rushed to the Family Planning clinic to ask what was going on.

I had convinced myself I had to be pregnant too, despite two negative tests. But the nurse said that it's really common for your periods to stop when taking that kind of mini pill... and that I should 'enjoy it! Wink '

She said for some women it makes their periods more erratic/frequent, and for many others they stop altogether - that's why you'll have heard both things about the mini pill.

I know this must feel really worrying, but if you've done tests and they're negative, I would bet it's the same for you. Maybe go talk to your GP/family planning nurse to put your mind at rest?

Yeah, don’t get me wrong me and the OH would be delighted if we were pregnant! It would just be a big shock 😂🤭 yeah cause I didn’t have periods on the mirena coil i just convinced myself I’d caught on in the days that I’d missed the pill 🙈 convincing myself I have symptoms but I’ll test again this weekend then let it go to the back of my mind

After all no periods is a win win!!

Flossy04 · 30/07/2018 21:50

@mumsy2107 oh gosh!! I bet you’ll do fine!! Like I say we would be extatic it just would be sooner than planned but from what I’ve worked out from date of my LMP I would be around 8 weeks on Friday so a test is in order I think just to make sure haha

I’m on Cerazette and have the odd spot but no periods in 2 years since having my daughter.

I occasionally take an HPT just to reassure myself I’m not pregnant!

Flossy04 · 30/07/2018 22:54

Well see I used to do that with my coil as periods were very irregular! But never had a +ve yet! Maybe I’m just over thinking/hoping I guess

OH is being inpatient and wants me to test tomorrow so I’ll update you then @Blondemother 😂😂

With my first I didn't realise till I was 11 weeks pregnant as periods were on and off with this pill and so thought it was normal it was only at 11 weeks I had a bout of sickness but didn't feel like a sick bug , no other symptoms , so did a test and got a bfp , this time no period and I just had a feeling so tested and a positive, midwife told me the mini pill isn't as effective if not taken at the same time every day ,keep us posted good luck

Flossy04 · 31/07/2018 06:52

Hey @mumsy2107 Took a test this morning and BFN, maybe I just won’t have periods with this pill??

Might just do a test each month to check, I definitely take it everyday just not always at the same time due to shift work

Some mini pills have a wider window of safety and don’t have to be at the exact same time each day - Cerazette needs to be taken within 12 hours of when it should have been taken.

Jennie92p · 31/07/2018 17:35

Hi ladies I am on cerazette also been on for two months now and I keep forgetting to take it and get told to double up next day, me and my partner had sex on Sunday there and k have forgotten to take it and it's Tuesday, we would love to have another one as we lost one few months back, my gp told me not to be stupid that you can't fall pregnant on the mini pill as you don't ovulate, bit was wanting to know has anyone every fallen on it?? Xx

Blondemother · 31/07/2018 19:46

Hey Jennie, you don’t ovulate if you take the mini pill every day within the time frame, but if you forget then you may well ovulate.

I don’t know how long you would have to go/how many you would have to miss, but anecdotally plenty of people have fallen pregnant on the mini pill due to not taking it as prescribed.

dementedpixie · 31/07/2018 19:55

Not all mini pills stop ovulation, they work by thickening cervical mucus. If you aren't taking it correctly then of course you can get pregnant

Jennie92p · 31/07/2018 20:23

I'm on cerazette, we would love to have another I only got put on it after I had miscarriage from the gp,

Blondemother · 31/07/2018 21:10

dementedpixie yes, sorry - I am talking about Cerazette as that is what I’m on, I shouldn’t have made such a broad statement.
