Cycles after Nexplanon Removal & Mini Pill Help?

I had my Nexplanon removed 19 days ago after having it in for 3.5 years (2 different implants). I was given Desogestrel mini pill a couple of days before removal and stopped this 6 days after my implant was removed due to horrendous headaches. My husband and I were planning to TTC in a couple of months anyway so getting pregnant would actually be a good thing.

Since stopping the pill and having my implant removed I’ve not had any bleeding at all. I don’t think I’ve had any ovulation symptoms either. We have DTD many times since removal but I doubt that I’m pregnant yet due to the lack of OV symptoms.

For the last couple of days I’ve had very sore nipples and today I’ve had a few bouts of nausea. I’ve also had cramping for around a week on and off. Does this mean my period is due soon or is there a chance I could be pregnant do you think? Age is not on my side (I’m 36 - I have 3 children but none with my husband and my youngest is 7yrs so there will be a big age gap!).

So I suppose my question is, how on earth do I try to calculate my cycle and if I do decide to do a hpt (I’m expecting a bfn) when would I do it??? Any help or advice would be appreciated Smile

Anyone? 😞
I’m now 28 days without my implant and 22 days pill free. Still absolutely no sign of AF. I tested with a cheapy this morning and got a bfn. I’m wondering now if I OV’d around 9 days ago (around my previous post) due to the symptoms I described. I just want an AF to arrive now so I know I’m still ‘working’. Any experience of implant removal/stopping pill and cycles? It’s been years since I was contraceptive free and I have no idea what to expect now.

Hi!

Coming off the implant is a pain!
I’ve just had mine removed hoping to try for #2 so I’m also in the limbo of waiting for AF or hopefully falling pregnant...Grin

When I fell pregnant with my son 3 yrs ago... I had implant removed. I didnt realise I could fall pregnant without having a period... so roughly a month after implant was removed i took a test and it was a BFN then a month later still had no period so took another test and was pregnant!

So what I’m saying is if no period maybe test again in a few weeks? Sorry I’m not very helpful Confused

Aw thank you. It’s really nice of you to reply. I feel really crampy this evening so maybe AF is on its way? Either way, it will be good to get back to normal after so long with an implant! Fingers crossed I can get a bfp as quickly as you did! Smile

Fingers crossed for you!

I had the implant removed on 29th June and had a period / bleed on 28th July although it didn't last as long as AF usually does so not sure it was a "proper" period. It is annoying being in limbo. Fwiw my GP told me to do a pregnancy test 6 weeks after removal if no bleeding and even that might be too early as she said ovulation 'typically' happens about 28 days after it being removed. Fingers crossed something happens soon for you - either a BFP or AF!

It's impossible to say when cycles will return to normal. It CAN take up to a year, but most people seem to settle into a regular pattern within 6 months of implant removal.

Thanks guys. I hope it doesn’t take a year though! I don’t have a year at my age!
