Trying to conceive a girl!?

I've already got a Ds, he's 18 months and now trying for dc2. Would really love a girl, as I only want 2 children. I've been reading up on "how to conceive a girl". Has any one else tried for a girl and had sex 4 days before ovulation and actually got a girl? Or is it just an old wives tale?

Any more advice on how to higher the chances of a girl would be great

You have exactly 50% chance of having a girl, honestly whatever you do or don’t do won’t change that. Unless you somehow manage to manipulate sperm to only have the X chromosomes.

You will probably get flamed on here for wanting to increase your chances of conceiving a girl.
I read somewhere that lower calorie intake could increase your chances of conceiving a girl and avoiding sex in the 2 days surrounding ovulation.
But that could lower your chances of getting pregnant and extreme dieting could be detrimental to your health. Also it's probably a load of rubbish, you get what you get, whichever sperm wins!
You need to be prepared that it could be a boy, I.e do you want a second child, not just a girl?

So is it false that boy sperms die off quicker than girl sperms?No I definitely won't regret the baby if it's a boy, OH wants another boy and it will a buddy for my Ds, so no I would soon get over it. As long as bub is healthy that is the main thing. But I do really want a girl. I think most people want at least one of each.

To be honest there's a lot of theories rolling around but it is just 50/50. I know people who have tried eating certain foods to alter the PH of their vagina and not doing the deed right at certain points in their cycle who have not conceived their "preferred sex" for want of a better phrase.

No I want a second child whether it's a boy or a girl. I just want a play mate for Ds and I think at a pretty good age gap if I do conceive in the next few months

I'm pregnant with twins-2 girls! I only dtd on the day of positive opk which is 12-36 hours before ovulation.. so the theory didn't work for me🙈 but there's no harm in trying things you read for fun 😊 good luck x

Congratulations Op, that's amazing Well I think I'm going to try all the theories and if it works then great, if not then also great I read having sex every day from your period but leaving a gap of 2.5 days before ovulation does higher the chances, but obviously there is still a chance of a boy. Who knows if at true, we will see

That theory is completely false for me. We dtd the day of ovulation and got two dyzygotic (non identical) twin girls.

I did actually conceive a girl when I had sex earlier in cycle, but I’d also had a m/c previously which apparently gives a slightly higher chance of a girl (girls are thought to be a ‘safer’ bet genetically as they are less vulnerable in the womb, or something all no those lines, no idea if it’s true). There’s a few theories around swaying the sex that are interesting to read up on, but probably nothing more than that.

pp's are saying they got girls from dtd on ovulation day so It will be interesting to know if any one got a boy dtd a few days before ovulation! If so then it just shows the theory is definitely not true

Ive got a boy and girl.
Both conceived on a month where we dtd once near / on ovulation.
If I remember correctly I orgasmed both times.
I'm quite greedy so probably was eating a high calorie diet with both 😳

I've read that orgasming actually produces something that can reduce the amount of girl sperms! That probably is false haha. If it's true about a high calorie diet ruining your chances of a girl then I've got no chance. I'm obsessed with cheese

Have a look at gender dreaming website, tons of info on there. Apparently Clomid produces more girls as it changes the cervical mucus but obviously that's a pretty extreme way to try for a girl unless you need it for fertility reasons.

I’ve got an ovulation app that gives you the best days to have sex for girl or boy. It’s called ovulation calendar. I’ve attached an image so you can see what it looks like.

Honestly though who cares! I’d love any baby regardless of sex!

In theory male sperm swim quicker but die off quicker and female sperm swim slowly but last longer.. maybe sex a day or two before ovulation night increase your chances as there should be majority of female swimmers left??
