Not ovulated since HYCOSY???

I'm a little lost about this right now and don't have anyone to talk to because all my family are either pregnant or have kids already, and talking about infertility just bums people out I think.

My partner and I have been TTC since about November 2017. I was getting positive ovulation tests and EWCM but no luck with the BFP. My doctor sent me for a HYCOSY and since then it's like my whole system has shut down. The doctor said the tubes were clear although one is quite long and windey, they also had trouble finding my cervix to insert the catheter and trouble locating my right ovary on the ultrasound.

I used to get very strong ovulation symptoms - CM, giant sore boobs, bloating, pinching pain around my ovaries, fatigue, etc. But since the HYCOSY I've been dry as a bone down there (TMI!) and not had a twinge or anything. It's now been three months since the HYCOSY and I've not had a single positive ovulation test.

Anyone experienced anything similar? My periods are arriving on the dot as usual - 31 days.

You've been trying since November 2017? Is that a typo? That's only 9 months ago. No wonder the NHS is on its knees.

Are you having regular periods?

libbynugget · 26/07/2018 08:18

Hi, sorry that was meant to say TTC December 2016, and I went to the GP November 2017. Periods have been normal and cycles between 27-36 days. It's just the ovulation symptoms vanishing and no positive tests on OPK since the HYCOSY. It's a bit worrying.

Oh right sorry that makes more sense. Could you try temping? If you're regular I still think you're ovulating.

Do the sticks change in darkness?

Ribbynugget · 26/07/2018 13:19

Hi Juneybean, Thanks for your reply. I think my lovely GP would have rightly sent me packing if I'd only been trying for five months then asked for a HYCOSY! I've not tried temping because I work really odd hours and have to wake up at such different times each day I assumed it would be all over the place. Probably worth a shot though since the sticks aren't playing nice. The sticks are cheapo ones from Amazon that come in packs of about fifty or so. All the ones from the last two cycles have been from the new batch and the test line has been quite faint. Maybe a duff batch? It's the absence of symptoms that's worried me.

juneybean · 26/07/2018 17:50

To be honest I don't get much in the way of symptoms. Do you get any cervical mucous?

Ribbynugget · 26/07/2018 18:09

That's the scary bit - I've been completely dry for three months. Usually I have EWCM over about four days but for the last few months it's been like the current British summer down there - dry as a bone!

juneybean · 26/07/2018 18:14

Do you take any supplements? Taking evening primrose oil from CD 1 to ov can help with ewcm.
I wouldn't temp if you work shifts it's just going to piss you off more.

Hi OP, I had an HSG in March/April this year and I swear my cycles are now messed up. I am 42 though so it could be just down to age but I definitely notice changes since ie lack of anything much at all. Very light bleeds, lack of ovulation and just generally all over the place irregular. Oh and hot flashes at certain times of the month!! Grim. Wherever you look online it says that it shouldn’t have any effect but anecdotes on forums suggest it does?!

littlemimosa · 27/07/2018 20:54

Oh and dry. Yes. Definitely dry. Horrid. Would love to hear off anyone else who has had this after an HSG or Hycosy....

Ribbynugget · 28/07/2018 00:06

Hi littlemimosa, it's weird isn't it? I can't find anything about dryness but before the HYCOSY I would get ewcm, now I don't. I've got an appointment with the gp in a week to try and see if they'll do anything for me.

Ribbynugget · 28/07/2018 12:31

And now my period has arrived a week early. I thought it made your cycle longer if you didn't ovulate. Who knows that's going on in there!

Any update on this? I've had similar problems myself lately and a search brought up this thread:(

BusyBee0 · 05/07/2022 08:46

Hi, I thought I would hop on. I had hycosy this cycle. It’s made mine go all over the place I’m currently on cycle day 39 and just ovulated. I have had really sharp ovulation pains.
