Sac is a weird shape? Slightly worried...

Hi everyone. I have posted this before but have requested it be removed as the scan photos revealed my full name... D'OH.

I went for an early reassurance scan today after suffering a missed miscarriage with my last pregnancy.

We were able to see bean and a lovely strong heartbeat, and he/she is measuring perfectly for dates (thought I was 7w 1d and I am smile ). We are thrilled!

However, am I wrong for thinking the sac is a weird shape? Most scan pictures I've seen, the sac is round!

The sonographer made no mention of this either by mouth or in the report, she said everything looked good. Report said ' live intrauterine pregnancy' which I assume is good!

I'm probably worrying over nothing :D

I should say, the sonographer said my bladder was very very full! It certainly felt like it was Grin

It's fine.

hamandpease · 24/07/2018 22:27

Which bit is it you're worried about? Looks v similar to my 8w one

CobaltRose · 24/07/2018 22:32

@hamandpease, just the shape of the sac. I thought (perhaps wrongly) that they're supposed to be round. I'm beginning to think I'm getting worked up over nothing. Blush

Looks fine. Google sac images at 7weeks some just are more like that.

hamandpease · 24/07/2018 22:44

Which bit do you think is the sac though? I'm sorry if I'm asking an obvious question but it looks pretty round to me Smile

hamandpease · 24/07/2018 22:45

Anyway there's nothing there that looks odd to me and I've googled LOADS of them Grin

CobaltRose · 24/07/2018 22:49

@hamandpease, the black bit with the little peanut in it? Grin But I'm now sure I'm just worrying over nothing Blush

The sac is a lovely soft thing like a balloon gently filled with water. It's whole job is to squish into funny shapes to cushion the foetus from external pressure. Your full bladder was probably pressing up on it at the time of the scan. The baby is so much smaller than the sac it will just slip'n'slide to a comfy area within it. Don't fret (and DON"T now start fretting about things within your abdomen putting pressure on the sac - it's normal and what it is designed for!) x

I commented yesterday that is completely normal. I attached a pic of my one which did have an anomaly of the sac so you could compare
