Could I be pregnant?

I am a 34 year old mother of two girls and I was hoping I was pregnant, but I have just spent the week with low period style pain and a very light amount of spotting which started on my preriod's due date, but has stopped with no bleeding but I still have a low ache. (Normally I spot for a day then break for a day then start to bleed).

I wonder if I could be pregnant still. I am worried as I live in Spain and are strggling to be understood at the doctors, and need to buy a pregnancy test. (By the way they are about 17 Euros each in my local pharmacy, so they are quite expensive to buy, unlike to UK) I am going to try to make an appointment with the local Doctor anyway, but would like to know anyone's opinion first otherwise I could look very silly.

Yes, sounds like an implantation bleed.

ClaireHappyGal · 29/05/2007 10:48

Could this be so even though my period was only due a couple of days ago?

When I got pregnant with ds my period was due on 23rd December, I took a pregnancy test on the same day because I was so excited and it was negative. Five minutes later I had light spotting which I assumed was a period, so had lots of wine and champagne at christmas as I decided we would not ttc for another month. Four weeks later I had a very bloated belly and constipation bought a remedy for constipation which was not advised to be taken if pregnant so I took another test fully expecting it to be negative and it was positive! The light period I had in December was actually an implantation bleed. Sorry for the essay Good luck!

Thanks for that. I will wait as long as I can then try a test. I have a strong urge now to go out an buy one. But I will try to wait.

I managed to get pregnant with both children on first attempt. With my first as I was very ill before I realised I was pregnant because I had also just stopped taking the pill and was waiting for my period. With my second, I just missed my period and did a test a week later which, oviously was positive.

I never experienced any implantation bleed with either previous pregnancies. So this is very new.

I am very isolated here, so are enjoying looking at the website.

Just a quick thought, If I were to use a test would it make any difference to the result if I were on an implantation bleed?

Would it still read accurately or is it too early to say.

Ta for any help

If it is an implantation bleed I'd say it's too early to test. The hormones the test picks up will not be strong enough until at least a few days after implantation. If you can bear to hold out I'd try and wait a week

Hi ClaireHappyGal ? sounds to me like you have a strong gut feeling and if what is happening is different from usual then it could well be a pregnancy Last time I was pg, I had spotting for a few days before my period was due and then nothing. Fingers crossed for you. Just a thought (I grew up in Spain) you might be cheaper just asking the chemist to do a pg test based on urine ? I remember doing that in my youth it might be cheaper than a commercial test. Or, why not order some on the internet, access.diagnostics is good value, they shouldn?t take too long to reach you. Given that you are going to have to pay to see the Dr, you might as well wait a little longer and get your money?s worth! The spotting wouldn?t affect the test but your HCG levels may be lower if implantation has just happened. Keep us posted!

Will do..

Many thanks.

I will keep this thread up-to-date with more details when or if they happen.

to me it sounds like implantation bleeding , best to leave the test just for a few days, but if you have a gut feeling then go with it, Good luck

Very sad week, unfortunately started bleeding on Wednesday. Never Mind, I will look forward to next month.

I am now unsure as to which day I take as the first day of my last period. Was it last Sunday when I started spotting or would it be when I started to bleed.

I'll need to change my dates on the calendar I think.

Soory to hear it didn't work out as you wanted. You count the first day from a proper bleed.

CountTo10 · 04/06/2007 08:58

Sorry to hear that. There is a thread going at the moment of others ttc so it might be worth joining for a bit of support if you;re feeling isolated at all
