OPKs - Morning or Afternoon?

I had a mmc 3 months ago and since then I've been unsure as to whether I am OVing. My cycles have been 31, 33 and 28 days and I have plenty of ewcm in the middle of each cycle. But my temps have been erratic and my AFs are quite different to before mc. So, I've decided to spend (waste?) my money on some clearblue OPKs. I was planning to do them first thing each morning, but I have heard that it is better to use them in the afternoons. This is not ideal for me as I am at work all day. So it would be a choice of first thing in the morning or early evening. Just wondered if anyone had any advice/experience with these? Are they helpful/worth the money?

Thanks .

Hi I heard that the best results are achieved between 2pm and 8pm and to avoid drinking too much about an hour before doing the test.

WinkyGirl · 28/05/2007 21:20

I have been using mine first thing in the morning and have had good results. But I drink alot of water in the day so I have always done ovulation and pregnancy kits in the morning.

Good luck!

only afternoon
they normally say morning no good

Sorry - to clarify what I meant by "good results" - I got pregnant the first month I used a Clearblue ovulation kit. Now we are ttc again (after MC) I have used Clearblue this month too and it picked up the ovulation at CD16.

Does it say in the instructions because I have seen that other kits specify a time.

The instructions with the clearblue test don't seem to specify a time, but I have read that the LH surge usually occurs during the morning and therefore you are most likely to pick it up in the afternoon. I don't know what to do now.

I read that after 12 is the best time to use them. I found them useful, I used the digital ones as they gave me a definate answer.

Jess - I always did them first thing in morning but have reread instructions which suggest that it is better to do between 10am - 8pm . Apparently this is to do with the fact you often get an LH surge in the morning, so if you test with early morning you might miss the surge that day.

Also based on some advice form another Mner I have bought some cheap testers off ebay. they do not have all the plastic packaging but only cost me £6 for 20 instead of £20 4 7. They also seem to do the easier to use plastic testers too. Fertility Plan ebay store
