I am currently on day 5 of flashing smiley. Trying not to drive myself mad as this is my first month ttc but I am awaiting that static smiley! Why is it taking so long?

It should happen don't worry. I had loads of flashing smileys to begin with (like 15) but once I settled into my cycle it was better. 5 is fine (although easier to say than have happen I know!).

Are you dtd? You never know when it could just flick to static. I think some people do 2 a day at this stage (although I didn't) xx

By my 3rd flashing smiley I was getting annoyed so done another test on the 3rd evening 9pm....static!! Would def recommend testing at night.

Been dtd every other day since Sunday just to cover all bases, think dh is getting worn out!! I’ve been using internet cheapies in the evenings which have all come up negative so far. Feel like it’s never going to happen! Only have four left and they cost a fortune don’t they!

I know, what day did you start testing and how long are your cycles normally? Hopefully you'll catch it before you run out x

This is my first cycle after withdrawal bleed (I know you’re not really supposed to use them this soon but I have no self control )! I started testing on day 8 with a blank O as that was what was recommended based on a 28 day cycle. Then left it till day 10 and got my flashing smiley and now currently on cd14.

It might just be that your first cycle after the pill is a little unpredictable. We used these, first cycle I think I started to test way too early (first off the pill like you 😊) and got lots of flashing smileys. The second month I had a much better idea of when to start testing. (Although we didn't try in the second month) and 3rd cycle got my bfp. I found i needed to use much less and used less than 2 boxes over the 3 cycles.

I really do recommend them even though they are expensive xx

Try testing in the evening, my solid smileys tend to be about 10pm.

I had 6 days of flashing before I got my static. It was starting to feel like a lifetime!

@Chanel05 - I'm 10+5 now so it was about 6-7 weeks ago now - was / am over the moon. Scan is 23/07 so really looking forward to that.

I hope you get yours soon. The month I got my bfp I used something called preseed too - not saying you need to etc but I'm convinced it helped.

@Yakadee how long were you ttc for? So exciting I bet to be getting ready for your scan! What is pressed? I’ve never heard of it.

@Chanel05 - we were so lucky, caught on second cycle we tried! (I was tracking for 3 cycles but we didn't try in cycle 2).

Preseed is expensive but sperm friendly lube. I'd seen the reviews and I thought it was worth a shot! Got bfp first cycle (although could just be a total coincidence) xx

That’s fantastic that you got bfp so quickly. How many dpo were you when you tested?

I just did an internet cheapie which was negative. Gahhh. I’m a glutton for punishment.

@Chanel05 - you and me both! I was an addict lol.

I was 9dpo (I know it was early but I just knew) so surprised to get it so early.

I have to pinch myself some times as can't believe how lucky we are. I was really lucky with my first too (2 yo son).

@Chanel05 I was doing ic opks twice daily then cd12 started with CB advanced as well. My ic opks was darker but still negative the night I got the CB static smiley. I get mine off Dr Fertility with some Preseed x

@Angelmiracle @Yakadee that’s is fantastic at 9 dpo well congratulations again :).

I’m resisting the urge to do another ic as I feel it will be pointless so just going to hope for the static smiley tomorrow morning. Will keep you updated!

Possibly a stupid question but am I meant to be counting 14 days from my + to find out when af is due?

Also an advocate for preseed here! I calculated 14 days from the day after I got the static smiley. I believe static means that you're likely to ovulate in the next 48 hours so I was a little cautious. I got the static on the Tuesday, and I tested the the Monday almost 2 weeks later which I felt was 12 DPO. I got a faint positive that day, then waited until the Wednesday (OH made me promise!) to test again which was stronger followed by a clearblue digital. OH admitted that he could see the faint line on the Monday, but "it wasn't very dark" and he was certain that it had to be the same darkness as the control line for it to be positive. He couldn't deny the digital though

Suppose you just have to keep at it. Don't lose hope, you'll get the static x

I did an ic last night (said I have no self control!) and the latest I’ve just done now. Does it look like I’m getting ready to ovulate? Or clutching at straws 😂. Should I do another tonight?

The lines are more visible in real life, faint, but clearer.

Do a Clearblue tonight on a 3/4hr hold bet you it'll be static!

Did you pop the CB opk stick out and look at the two lines? I kept those as well in comparison to the ic opks
